Poker Tournament?

Sailing soon...wondering if they have poker tournaments on board? I would have one happy friend if they do!

From looking at the Carnival Fun Times (capers), it looks like they have both black jack and Texas hold 'em tournaments. I'm not sure how they work, what the buy-in is and all that, but I'm curious to find out. I think I would like to try a Texas Hold 'em while I'm on the Legend. Oh, and they also have slot tournaments too.:)

They run them on the sea days. There were three scheduled on my trip on the Conquest, only two made it though. They scheduled one during the formal/elegant night and there were not enough takers. Book the tourney early, I was not able to get in on any of them. Also most ships only have one poker table and it is sometime hard to get on. Out of a 7 day cruise I was only able to play about 8 hours, but I did walk away with almost $1200.00

I think it was some where from $60 to $100 dollar buy in. If you win you qualify to go on a poker tourney cruise.

Do a google search for "Cruises for Card Players" and you should be able to find what is the best way to play poker at sea - with live action. It is actually on a lot of cruises every year, and you may not even know it is going on.

Thank you all for your help. 15 days....Woo Hoo!!!

Please post details when you return.

Cards or electronic?

Buy in amount(s)?

How many tournies?

time of day?

limit on # of players? (single table tournies only or multi table tournies available?)

How quick is registration filled if # of players is limited?

i think it depends on the ship and iten. as there is another thread going about poker tourneys.

just off the elation last month and i played in a tourney. we had 2 scheduled-$150 buy in winner take all and receives seat in the finale in November (I believe it was) plus cash/credit for the finale cruise.

there are Poker Pro hold em electronic tables...ours was never busy. our second tourney was cancelled because not enough entrants. throughout the cruise, we would have the casino host make announcemtents trying to get people to come play. i think it's hit or miss because in the past, there would be a waiting list to get on the table. each ship seems to have their own thing.
