"LIVE" from Norwegian Breakaway - Oct 12, 2014

Hello everyone. . .I am happy again to be posting “LIVE”. This time, it will be onboard the beautiful Norwegian Breakaway. I leave tomorrow for my pre-cruise hotel. On Sunday morning (Oct 12), I will be heading in to Manhattan to board this wonderful ship that I have heard so much about. She is very young as her Maiden voyage was April 2013 (christened May 2013)

It has been awhile since I have posted “LIVE” (April 2014), so I will be ready to be sailing once again. I last sailed with Norwegian several times in 2009 (Wow 6 years ago . . . It seems like yesterday) In 2009 Norwegian Gem was the flagship of the fleet, and I know there have been many changes since then.

I am excited about these changes, and I am looking forward to exploring this magnificent ship and all she has to offer. The dining has changed. . . The cabins have changed as well as the activities on board. She is a massive vessel (4500 passengers) and I have read many, many reviews (“too big . . . just right . . . too many passengers . . . great food”). You will now have a chance to see Norwegian Breakaway through my eyes. (I never offer reviews (not much, anyway) but will offer a day to day report as I see it. It will include the public rooms, cabins, dining entertainment and pool areas. Yeah . . . and there may be a little discussion about the coffee.

There will be daily images posted of different areas of the ship (pending reliable wireless connection) . . . at least the areas that I make it to, as well as our ports of call. This sailing will be 7 nights and will visit Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup Cay, and Nassau. I am uncertain about how the weather will be during the next 7 nights, but it can rain straight through and I will be happy. It has been a tough summer, and I just need to be on a ship again.

Sit back, have a fresh coffee and join me for a delightful and relaxing cruise on Norwegian Breakaway. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Breakaway Casino will be very “Radio friendly”

I am happy to see you will be "Live" for the Breakaway. I will be sailing her soon, so I will definitely be following along with you.

You always do such a nice job of reporting. Thanks for taking the time for all of us here on Cruise Critic.

HAPPY SAILING :)

Radio- Great to hear from you again! Looking forward to your report and will be curious to see how you like her. We haven't sailed her yet. I'm intrigued but just not sure if I would like such a big ship, so it will be interesting to get your feedback.

Hi Radio,

I am so excited to be on the same sailing of your live review!!

48 hours until we board!

I will see you at the Haven and the meet & greet.

Marilyn

And Meg is doing a live report from the Getaway at the same time. My cousin is on that cruise. It will be interesting to compare the ships!

Can you find answers to the following for me:

- which nights are Burn the Floor dancers in Manhattan room

- is there a third "show"- on BA in May there was a magician. If so, which night(s) is it offered?

- I'll be curious about whether it is warm enough for pools day 1 or day 2 and about whether you "make it" to GSC

Thanks and enjoy every minute!

Have a great cruise!!

Thanks Chesneygirl. . . I seem to cruise Royal Caribbean the most, but I have heard so many wonderful things about Norwegian Breakaway that I had to try her out !

Wow! What a warmup for the Quantum! Have a great time and don't watch too much "news".

Thanks Carol. . . I feel like I need to warm up though because it has been so long since I have done a "LIVE"

I am ready now to go. . .I wish I could drive up to New York TODAY !

Since I'm cruising in 4 wks I can already book Burn the Floor. The shows are Monday 7:30 and 10, Wed., 7pm, Saturday 7 and 9:30. There is currently a comedian/magician onboard but he seems to be getting extended week to week. It isn't pre-bookable.

Finally! I was checking NCL boards the whole day yesterday hoping to see this thread started.

Well, the procedure as usual...

Subscribing - check.

Notifying my family that I'm "going" on another cruise with Radio - check:D

There are several things that I will be looking forward to over the next week. . .

Here are a few of them:

1. iConcierge. . . I really want to see how this works. I heard that during Epic that there were a few problems. . .but with several App upgrades maybe most of the bugs have been worked out.

2. Breakaway Water Park. . . I know, I know. . .That is for the kids, right ? Hmmm . . . I saw many YouTube videos where kids of all ages were enjoying that area.

(Note to Radio: Don't worry, and just be a kid for a week)

3. Great Stirrup Cay. . . I can't wait to see many of the improvements that have happened since my last trip there on Norwegian Spirit (2009)
