Hi All,

We are going to be in St. Maarten in October and were looking for a kayaking excursion. Has anyone ever taken the Oyster Pond Kayaking tour?

Is it a protected area or are there waves that come in?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sherry

I've not taken the tour, but we stay at Oyster Bay Beach resort every January, which overlooks Oyster Pond.

Oyster Pond is a very well protected lagoon - with only a narrow opening to the sea. It is an ideal yacht anchorage, with a couple of marinas - one on the Dutch side, one on the French. You will be able to report on an international paddling expedition. If you have time, you should stop at Dawn Beach, on the outside of the peninsula forming the lagoon - with a pretty good restaurant/bar and beach chair rentals.

Hi NavyBankerTeacher;

Thank you so much....the info says that you paddle to Dawn Beach. Hopefully we can stay there for a few hours before we head back to the ship.

Sherry

Should be a great day. Dawn Beach is one of the best on the island - and a main reason we keep going to Oyster Bay.
