I am having trouble deciding if I should buy the cheers package or not. I am going with my 19 year old daughter. I might drink 3 or 4 alcoholic drinks a day while on board at most. We have 3 port days I am not sure if I should or shouldn't. it will be almost 300$ to get the cheers package. any thoughts on this would be great, and any other tips would be great as well. TIA

I think if you do the math you'll see you have to drink in excess of 5 drinks (maybe 6 or 7) a day to make this package worth it and that would include port days. I'm not sure which cruise you're on but a 7 day package is running over $400 before gratuity which you'll pay either way. Unless you drink a lot of high priced liquor, I don't see how this is a good idea. Of course, if you don't mind the questionable ethics you can get drinks to share including non-alcoholic if you prefer that for your daughter. This is frowned on both on the ship and on these boards. Just try to figure out how much you'll spend per drink and then how many drinks for the whole week if you consider the port days. If you drink in any of the ports this is going to be extra money you'll spend.

I say yes because although that’s not a ton of drinks I look at a couple of factors. 1) you may drink more than you think 2) it includes specialty coffee (not the ugh stuff from the buffet) 3) juices, Cokes, bottled water, energy drinks are all included 4) allows you to maybe try something you’ve never had before and if you don’t like it, no biggie. It’s worked out for us well, even on port days. We’re usually back onboard 4 or 5pm...there’s still lots of time left before heading to bed. 5) you’ve already paid for everything. Hope this helps.

These are all really good points. I do usually buy the water packages and that would eliminate the need to do that. I also like an occasional soda or specialty coffee (didn't realize this was now included). I often think about it but then I am afraid I might try to keep up with it to see if I got my money's worth especially on those port days. For instance, would I feel the need to have mimosas with my breakfast? I am taking my next cruise in Feb and I am not sharing a room so this might be a good time to try it. Especially since paying in advance would eliminate that S&S bill after the cruise. I wonder if it makes it any easier on the servers if you have the package.

That is about all I drink, and the Cheers package is definitely not worth it. Just buy each drink. You would need to drink over 5 drinks a day to break even. But remember that the Cheers package also include soda, bottled water, specialty coffee, and milkshakes. Still not worth it to me, but you have to decide for yourself.

It would probably be worth it for me, but not for husband who rarely drinks. And since we would both have to purchase, it just wouldn't make sense for us. If you drink specialty coffees, sodas, or wine with dinner....maybe?

Cannot advise you about drink package - but - make sure when you go into the Casino to introduce yourselves to Veronica. She is THE BEST casino host at sea. Tell her Bennett - the Magician told you to give her a kiss from him. I promise this will enhance your fun.
