Upgrade/Upsale !!??

So I’m notorious for booking interior rooms and waiting it out to get a better upgrade/upsale offer . I think it’s been 5-6 times now that I’ve got great offers to upgrade. I’ve been offered Ocean view and balcony on certain offers. I’ve stayed in all 3 cabin types.

Every time I’ve got an offer (5 times I think) , it’s been from an interior to a ocean view or balcony. They always send me an offer when I’m in a interior . I got an offer for interior to ocean view again and I sail in 86 days, I really want a balcony and there is still quite a few left but I’m fine with the ocean view.

My question is, if I take this offer does it knock out my chances for likely getting a upgrade offer for a balcony later on . I guess my thing was it’s ironic how I get an offer to ocean view or balcony from an interior every time, But I’ve never got an offer from ocean view to balcony. But it could just be the odds. .

Possible? Based on our experience, yes. We had booked interior and within a couple weeks received upgrade offer to ocean view. We booked that, $22 more was a no brainier. Then several weeks after that we received offer for balcony, $52 more. Took that too. Seemed like good move overall to go from interior on 4 to balcony on Lido for $74 (total for 2 people).

BTW, we then received another offer that would just change deck to deck 8 for $58 more. Didn't see value in that.

So here's a question: Does the Upgrade Fairy ever show up before a cabin is paid for? Say, for instance, I have one reserved, and am taking my time paying it off. Would that lessen the chance for a visit from on high, or does it not seem to matter?

I had over $900 left on my balance when I got the offer to upgrade from a cove to a spa balcony.

Only put down payment of for total of $100 when I received my offers.

The best offers are moving down from a balcony to an interior in exchange for a full refund of your cruise fare in the form of a refundable onboard credit.

Not common on Carnival but it’s seen very frequently on cruise lines that love to oversell their inventory.

Either way, the answer to your question varies dependent upon the sailing and how their inventory is. If they feel they can only sell rooms at a lower price point, they’ll try to obtain further revenue by upselling those already committed to the cruise. If they believe they have a better chance at selling more expensive rooms, don’t expect offers.

That’s what I wondering . I’ve taken multiple ocean view offers now but haven’t got any Offers for a balcony coming from an ocean view. I did take it for $86. Now I’m just hoping I get a balcony offer before we sail . 86 days and there’s like 26 balconies still open so I’m hoping so .

One person in my group has been booked for only two weeks in a porthole and was offered an upgrade to an ocean view for $78. I was asked if this was a good deal although I’m really not sure. My cabin didn’t receive any upgrade offers and have been booked for four months.

They never call me . They send me emails every time. Do you check that regularly .

I got an email the other day to upgrade my interior to a balcony for $600. Not a good deal for me. We have connecting interior rooms for five of us. So it's unlikely that we'll take a deal.

Am I the only cruiser who has never gotten a call from the Upgrade Fairy?

I've been cruising CCL for over 10 years - NEVER received a upgrade call. Now, I'm wondering why. I believe they have my email address - at least my PVP does. Where do I go to make sure the Upgrade Fairy has my email?

Also wondering if the reason I'm not getting the offers now is because for the last 4-5 years I am always booked with a casino rate. Already paying a reduced fare, so maybe they don't give any other "deals?"

Well, based on my experience, I have one room booked under casino rate, I received upgrade offer.
