Cruise to or from Hawaii?

hello everyone, just making an inquiry. It’s our 40th wedding anniversary next year and we want to visit Hawaii. We are in Perth, Western Australia. The thing is we’re not sure if it’s better to go from Sydney to Hawaii or Hawaii to Sydney. We are able to go at both times of the year.

What I’d like to know is when is the weather best in Hawaii? Is there a high season, when it would be more crowded there?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance :cool::cool::cool:

The weather in Hawaii doesn't vary much month to month - winter months (maybe November through March) can be a little rainier and have heavier surf, but those are also prime whale watching months. June through August can be warmer and more humid, but the average monthly temperatures probably don't vary more than 10 degrees. Crowds are usually pretty heavy around the Christmas holidays, but otherwise pretty evenly spread over the year. So...go whenever the prices and schedule work best for you! Here's a website that shows the average monthly temperatures for Honolulu:

My preference would be Hawaii to Sydney.

The benefit of going East to West is that you would be moving the clock backwards instead of forward.

Definitely this. We've done it both ways...Hawaii to Vancouver and much prefer the gaining time to losing it.

Our favorite months here in Maui are during our wintertime when temperatures are perfect...upper 70s to low 80s. January is a great month with fewer visitors and the whales have returned. Generally humpback whales activity is best in February & March however those months are more crowded with snowbirds migrating to Hawaii. Although crowds is a relative term & wouldn't greatly affect a visit to Hawaii. November (except Thanksgiving week which this year is from the 18th-26th) & early December are also less crowded times. June, July & up to mid-August have many families visiting during their children's summer vacation from school & are the hottest months of the year.

This website describes planning weather by month for Maui:

I agree to fly to Hawaii & leisurely cruise back to Sydney but wasn't aware there were such itineraries. Anytime of the year is great in Hawaii with temperatures varying by only about 10 degrees.
