If you have a hard sided suitcase that opens like a clamshell, you can leave it under the bed open and it can be useful like an extra set of drawers you can pull out and find things easily.

I therefore need to take our biggest suitcases but have been worrying about the underbed clearance and possibly being stuck with trying to store the cases elsewhere in the limited space of a balcony cabin. Would you be kind enough to let me know the depth in inches or cm of the largest case you were able to get under the bed on Adonia -and what kind of cabin you were in

Sorry....only just seen this post. Will get measurements for you in next few days. We were in a standard balcony cabin on B deck

If you have a Balcony would it be safe to store outside in the corner? Although they could get wet in rain or at worse end up flying off As you see I'm new to Cruising

We also always open the cases to put them under the bed and they fit fine.

There's no problems on Arcadia. We have just returned from a sector of her World Cruise and we had large suitcases and they fitted under the bed with room to spare and they were closed. I definitely wouldn't put them on the balcony as they would get very wet either from rain or salt water spray and also end up covered in salt. We actually had quite a bit of dried salt on our balcony after experiencing strong winds. When we have had less room on various ships, we just open them up and slide them under the bed as suggested by others.

All you have to do is tilt the edge of the bed, and they will slide underneath. We do it every time no problem.

We tipped our cabin Stewart at the start of our cruise for her help in taking our empty suitcases away and storing them in a locker. That's what voluntary tipping is all about, service above and beyond.
