Anyone on A731 Azura leaving tomorrow (or maybe not)

Just seen on the Southampton Port Cruise Schedule that Azura is booked in Ocean until 1700 tomorrow and then until 1700 on Saturday in QE2. Are we laying up for 24 Hrs ?

Just looked and yes it does look odd. We are on Aurora from tomorrow and that still looks OK, but all inbound ships are going to have a pretty rough passage tonight. Given the recent Oriana issues P&O will not want another failed departure. The compensation must be running into millions.

24 hours on berth is preferable to 24 hours going through the busiest seaway in the world in the low pressure system heading our way.

Up to Storm force 9 and very rough seas through Saturday.

There's the remains of a hurricane on the way so Azura's probably staying in Southampton. It happened to us once. They provided a shuttle to West Quay on Day 1 then we had to stay onboard day 2 while they waited for a lull in the storm before we sailed at 4:00 p.m. This was on Oceana a couple of years ago.

It looks like there will be a 24hour delay in departure presumably due to the storm.
Ocean terminal has a problem with strong winds on the side of large ships like Azura due to the angle of the berth and ships have been relocated in the past.
I would presume everyone would board as normal tomorrow and everything, except the casino, will be available as though they had sailed. The only difference will be that the ship will be stable instead of rolling around in the channel.

I agree, but why have P&O not told us anything - Spoke to them 30 mins ago and they said normal embarkation and departure !! Would rather board on Saturday if we are not leaving until Saturday.

If the weather improves and the forecast is slightly out they would rather you were on board so they can just go.

We are A731.
If we are delayed departure by 24 hours does this mean the whole cruise will be behind, surely they can not make up this time before Madeira.
This deep low is tracking slightly further north over Ireland than had been predicted a couple of days ago

Looks as though the Captains on Azura and Aurora have both put their foot down to get ahead of the worst of it, as ship tracking is showing them both level with the south Devon coast already.

Totally agree. even if we don't sail today, everything except the view will say our long awaited holiday is here! It will be another story to dine out on.

I would be quite happy to stay on the ship safely in Southampton, at least your holiday has started then!

Wonder if you will miss a port? In 2012 on Azura we rushed back to beat a storm and arrived about midnight, we couldn't get off until the morning but I didn't want to!

I was just wondering that if the port of Southampton is closed. Do all the ships that are already docked there have to leave?

The port is not closed. In fact Aurora and Braemar will be leaving as planned although sailing in different directions to Azura.

It never does close.

Boarded Aurora an hour ago and the porter said that Azura isn’t sailing today.

We are leaving as planned, but sailing away from the storm (for now)!
