I've just been on a two week cruise to the Med on Ventura and spoke to the guy in the gym who does the insoles and the Elemis Detox packages. Saw him when I was at a very low ebb after two sleepless weeks in a very noisy squeaky cabin, plus the fact that despite I've been following three months on a virtually fat-free, carb-free diet I still lose only a tiny amount of weight! Seems it's down a very sluggish metabolism (measured) and a poorly working liver that needs detoxing - I purchased a 3-month Elemis Detox tablet programme. The only medical checks were quick and verbal as his next customer was waiting!
But I've just been to my Doctor who's running blood tests to check thyroid activity (thinks the liver is irrelevant) but much more seriously there is a contra-indication with a medication I'm on that I was not asked about. I should not be taking this Detox!
Can anyone advise me who I should contact about something like this - not a happy bunny and £130 lighter for something I should not touch. The only contact I have is Andree in the gym on Ventura - not a lot of use when its on its way to the Canaries...

Maybe you can call P&O about your situation. If your purchase was covered by their purchase receipt, they will advise you on their return policy. If not, you need to run after your direct seller, where chance may be remote.

I'm not very up on what the right terms as this is only my third cruise (once with P&O, once with NCL). Shame I already have a big complaint in with them re sleepless two weeks in my cabin but that's another story ...

I'm not sure what a "purchase receipt" is but I paid on my Cabin Card, so part of my main bill - its also rather more than I previously thought!

Whilst you can write to P&O or leave some comment on twitter
expressing your dissatisfaction, I think you will be on a loser trying to get any money back. The "more than you thought" amount is probably a gratuity- 10% advised in the spa price list. It also says that items can only be returned whilst you are on board and they have to be unopened. Elemis website says that they do not give any guarantee regarding their products.
Sorry to not bring better news, its worth trying, but dont get your hopes up.
Hope your general health improves.

I'm sorry for your situation, but seriously you would take the word of non-medically qualified person in the gym about your liver?

changing subject slightly, were you in one of the single cabins next to the bar/casino?

dave cctv - yes, absolute nightmare! Cabin creaked, squeaked and clunked and could sing along with karaoke until I phoned every time at midnight when they said "we'll shut the doors"! The deck chairs scraped at 6am and 5.40 one day on the prom deck above and the aircon roared until they stuck a towel in it! Mum, meanwhile, slept blissfully next door. Got a new room two days from the end but it was too little too late. Found reception do not keep records of room complaints either (manager thought I was fine following the initial three visits from carpenters who fitted wedges all around the ceilings and port hole etc, so did not offer me a move until I demanded to see him again on day 11) I was like the walking dead by the second week and have written a stinking letter asking for compensation.

Jeanlyon - You wonder how I fell for a very good salesman promising the earth - I would have signed anything at the end of the cruise I was so tired ...

As for the insoles, they are good for what they are - currently mine are rigid bespoke ones following several ops made via biomechanic specialist/my surgeon and cost twice as much and £80 to re-upholster every now and then! These were half the price (the day I got them), are very similar but have a bit of give and will go in summer sandals, flats and anything in-between - good news for me anyway.

As others have said I am also not sure you will get very far with either complaint. Ref the noisy cabin ..the fact that it got to day 11 before you asked to speak to someone higher up..after the earlier visits..may count against any form of compo. It is very difficult to prove anything once you are off the ship.Maybe the next people in that cabin either had taken earplugs or were not so sensitive to noise , which you may be. We have had cabins that creaked like an old galleon , but accepted it as part and parcel of being on a moving object...rather than a non moving land based hotel room. Ref your purchase saying you were tired when you brought it probably will not wash with the spa....They will not be able to resell it, and if you are on medication would have expected you to ask if it was safe to use with medication.if they were not sure of the answer to that question that should have rung bells.
I think you would need to contact the company running the spa about that refund....not Pando.

I experienced those cabins on Ventura a few years ago. They are not fit for purpose and P&O know it but obviously won't do anything about it. I now have a double occupancy cabin for only a few pounds more.

Dave - wish you'd reviewed them!
We couldn't find anything before booking, and as Mum and I wanted our own rooms and were away for two weeks decided some natural light would be good (which I think was probably right). I'll make sure I do a room review for others and the Manager himself did refer to the refit in March 18 ... as for the noise (karaoke etc), they have their own policy but didn't seem to follow it. And of course I had ear plugs in throughout but just didn't work. Shame as it was a lovely trip otherwise

Englishlady - just drafted spa letter. Obvs tiredness my issue but querying cooling off period and sold under uncomfortable circumstances in small back office when I just thought I was up there to sort out something else! And diet info given when I asked for it as he was telling me he was late for his next appt (so knew deal was sold and sealed!), and v rushed/scant med questions as we were leaving. Not professional and under the P&O umbrella.

Don't know why but it reminds of when colonic irrigation was all the rage in spas (not on the ship of course) and now it's considered to be the worst thing you can possibly do a you remove all the good bacteria which inhabits your digestive system!
