Transferring between ships at Southampton

Recommended Posts

We will bearriving early in the morning at the Mayflower terminal on one cruise line and departing that afternoon from the QE 2 Terminal. Has anyone done this transfer, or have any ideas on how to economically and efficiently accomplish this. Walking between the terminals with the luggage necessary for a multicruise itinerary is not viable since the two berths are at opposite ends of theport.

It's not just the distance - QE11 terminal is deep in the docks, with only a painted line between pedestrians and truck traffic. A taxi from the rank at Mayflower terminal will cost only about £7.

Problem, as the Exile says, is that you'll be thrown off your ship by 9.30 and that may be too early to drop your bags at QE11. Guessing it,s a Cunard cruise - can I suggest you e-mail them and enquire if they have early bag-drop at Southampton, I know some cruise lines do.

Mebbe keep the taxi and after dropping your bags get the driver to drop you at Bugle Street (for old-town sights) or the Bargate (for shopping)

JB :)
