Does anyone recommend exchanging for local currency in?Jamaica

I think all the Caribbean ports take US$$. Have never converted cash for those cruises.

To confirm, those ports of call - as do almost all in the Caribbean - accept US $. No reason to exchange for local currency.

Just bring enough small US bills to be able to pay with the exact amount. Some places will give local currency as change.

You are correct, but not in Grand Cayman and not in our experience in Jamaica, which are the ports of call referenced by the OP. :)

Just make sure the bills are in very good condition. You want to bring bills that are not torn or dirty.

If you have bills in good shape but badly wrinkled, just iron them. I do it all the time. :D

Was in Grand Cayman for a week; USD is accepted in shops catering to tourists, particularly those in Georgetown around the waterfront and along 7 Mile Beach.

I don't follow? The OP was asking if it is recommended. Why would be so purchases could be made. As others have responded, it is not needed because dollars are accepted.

Pick up $40-50 in ones at your bank. You can always add up, you don’t want to have to get change. Useful for small purchases, tips, etc.

My quote was misstated - my fault.

US$ are accepted in most Caribbean ports of call and most definitely in Grand Cayman and Jamaica - the ports referenced by the OP - as referenced in my first response #4.

I use the XE app on my phone. It updates exchange rates daily if you have a data connection (cell data or wifi).

And can shows rates across several currencies.
