Alright, I said I wouldn't be back to NCL but just booked Breakaway March 2019

The deal, $50 per person, choose two bonuses (drinks and excursion credits), no taxes, cool itinerary, how could I say no. Newer ship and style and I'm willing to give it another try after a very disappointing:cool::cool::cool: experience on the Pearl many years ago. I'm looking forward to it!

Anyone have a change of heart about NCL or any other line and are glad you gave them another chance?

We had an absolutely horrendous cruise on NCL Majesty, Boston to Bermuda, in July, 2000. I swore I would NEVER cruise NCL again.

In February, 2012, we received an offer that was too good to refuse and cruised Boston to Bermuda on NCL Dawn in May. We've cruised Dawn regularly since and enjoyed every one of those cruises.

I can't tell you how happy we are, we decided to give NCL another try. I hope you're as happy with your change of heart as we are..................

My first cruise on NCL was on the Norway many years ago. I heard that they had spent millions of dollars renovating but didn't realize that didn't apply to the cabins. Had a horrible cabin and asked to be moved which they did but that one wasn't very good either. Said I would never cruise them again but then years later wound up on The Pearl in a two bedroom suite with a butler. Best cabin ever!! That was a great cruise and have been on The Epic and just last week The Escape.

Yes I have. RCI and HAL.

In the end if I find a price and itinerary I forgive and forget.

Everything gets a second chance.

Been on 3 NCL Cruises and very happy. I loved the Escape and you must do the Thermal Spa. Week pass is worth it.

I am in the same position. I have been on 2 NCL cruises (I have 32 cruises under my belt) and have not been impressed. I have booked a Panama Canal on Jade in Nov for 11 days. I hope I have not made a mistake.

Panama canal is great on ANY ship. I have heard the Jade is nice. Too bad you are not on the Bliss.

It is always best to give a second chance, when the deal is right. I am sure, whatever your concerns you had with the Pearl will be forgotten when you go on your new, chosen cruise. I will say, am a bit surprised you had a Pearl issue or more than one, I am guessing as most cruisers love the Pearl. Of course things do happen and a bad experience is often hard to forget. CHEERS:cool:

Prior to 2015, my only cruise on NCL was on the Norway, which we enjoyed. I was leery of their dining concept so stayed away for a long time. We got a good deal for Alaska in 2016 on the Jewel and loved it. We have since cruised on the Escape last Dec. and we're booked on the Encore in 2010. It's turned into a great cruise line.

Was on the breakaway out of new York. Been on many ncl and love the cruise line. But did not line the breakaway. Common area to narrow. Like a cattle shoot. Shows were great but u need to make reservation and for dinner. I like the smaller ncl ships.

You are right: two itineraries it would hard not to enjoy are Panama Canal and Canada/New England. At least that is my opinion.

I like he Canada/New England ports, but it might not appeal to those who want a beach, snorkeling, or scuba experience.

Norwegian was not at the top of my list, but the current offer is making me reconsider. The fact that it has the itinerary and pricing my group wants may just make me rough it. :') I need to try one of the newer ships.

I find some people, simply shoot themselves in the foot, when they proclaim they are going to eliminate an entire line due to ONE trip. Same with the "assumptions" some make, that simply not valid?

A single incident is not going to be repeated, staff, fellow passengers are all going to be different. There are a lot more similarities between lines than differences in my opinion. I don't care who I go with, itinerary and price are my main concern.

Yes agree with you. I took the NCL Dawn out of Boston and did 14 days up to NE that at the time included Newfoundland and also down the St Lawrence.

Quebec City is just awesome. The itinerary did include two stops to Nova Scotia as well - one in each direction.

As for Panama, I did a partial with a shore excursion doing smaller boat going all the way through to the Pacific. We got to touch the walls within the lock.

But I am looking forward to going in the new canal in 2 weeks on the Bliss to the other end and under the Bridge.

Besides PC and NE, the other cruise that should be on any bucket list would be Alaska and I have done it 3 times. toodles.

Hi All ! Is there really such a thing as a bad cruise? I realize that some may not live up to our expectations or you may have a bad experience but come on people.....it's still a cruise. Always better than a day at work or sitting home watching TV. Life is too short to complain about the good stuff.

Those are 2 on my bucket list.

My favorite so far was Santiago to Buenos Aires. I actually got to Antarctica on a NCL excursion.

you are so right: I know a few like that, In fact our Alaskan cruise was not one we really liked. Why? Because we were relatively new cruisers at the time and considered sun, fun and tans with having a good cruise. We happen to hit extremely cold weather on that cruise. I think now, we would like it much better.

My first cruise was on the Star. I swore I would never sail NCL again after that cruise. But, we received a "free" casino cruise and it was too good to pass up. So, we sailed on the Breakaway and loved it. We have since sailed on the Breakaway 5 times and the Getaway once.

We had a horrendous experience with NCL on several fronts. The first day, we got moved from room to room due to a string of issues out of our control, and was 10 hours on board before we were finally settled, and still didn't see our luggage for another couple of hours. The next couple of days was more of the same. There were food issues, last minute port cancellations with no excuses, and a litany of things that made the whole crew look like buffoons. I never hated a company more than NCL by the time I got out of that jail 7 days later. I swore I would never go back, and here I am years later giving them another try this July in the Baltic. I figure after that much time, completely different employees and ships, it ought to be a different company. NCL had the best itinerary/length/ports for the Baltic Cruise we wanted, so figured we would give them another shot.

We are Platinum level with NCL but cruised on several cruise lines too, but our last NCL cruise was December 2014 on BA out of NY. Worst cruise ever and been cruising Royal ever since with much lower awards level.

Having said that, we wanted to go on a Bermuda cruise again and decided to try Escape (in a few months) which may be our ‘dealbreaker’ for future NCL cruises. I’m planning on having a great time and have plans to avoid the crowds, which I hated the most on BA. I’ll be sure to post a review when I get back.

BTW, our favorite ships are Jewel class so I wouldn’t hesitate to book one of those ships again, if the itinerary and price are right. And as others have said, Panama Canal and Canada/New England are our favorite cruises too.

to the original poster. I just got back from Breakaway's Transatlantic. It was my 2nd NCL cruise. I'm eager to sail Celebrity again. But if you're one to like runny whites on the eggs over easy. No moisture at all in eggs over medium. dinner portion sizes that range from fair to "is this a sample size?". Or we are not completely sure the weather will be nice so we will leave the deck loungers strapped together until we are certain. Or if you like it when the main evening show is a ventriloquist who makes fun of the volunteer from the audience. All with the "I'm the big star smile".Then don't cancel your reservation. NCL is for you.
