Possible to do both Placencia and Monkey River Tour from Harvest Caye?

Hello! We will be on NCL and will stop in Belize / Harvest Caye in 2 weeks. We really like the idea of going to Placencia to basically just check it out. In order to find things to do in Placencia I had a couple of questions for recent visitors who went to Placencia from Harvest Caye.

1. How is the snorkeling from the beach in Placencia if we brought our own gear? Did they have vendors who could run you out to a nearby reef for an hour or so?

2. Has anyone done the Monkey River trip - possibly with Ralph? It sounds very appealing. Could we have beach time in Placencia and still do the Monkey River trip?

3. It seems like they are getting better and better with trips to Placencia from Harvest Caye. Are vendors starting to pick people up in Harvest Caye as the "start" of the tour and not requiring people to show up in Placencia via the water taxi?

4. Aside from renting a golf cart in Placencia and checking out the bars and stuff, is there anything else to check-out? Can you rent beach-chairs and umbrellas at any beach bars? If so, any recommendations?

Can't answer your other questions but as far as doing both Placencia and the Monkey River Trip, you can make that decision by subtracting the Monkey River Trip excursion time from the time your ship is at Harvest Caye minus a 1/2 hour(time before sailing you'll need to be back on board), Also subtract an hour to 75 minutes as time to get off and reboard and be back on board before 1/2 to sail away. The check the ferry to Placencia times departures and arrivals. Subtract that time. How much time is left? Is that enough for what you want to do?
