Amsterdam - Which way do ships leave? (X-posted)

Hi all!

My Dad and I are thinking of taking the 14 day Baltic that departs Amsterdam onSept 2nd (Koningsdam).

He is wondering which way the ships depart Amsterdam.

1. Through the Markemeer/IJMeer; or

2. Through the Buitenkanaal.

The same question was on the HAL board. Ships sail west in Northsea canal to IJmuiden and continue north on Northsea.

You might be (or not) aware that the ship in IJmuiden will got through a lock. Always great to be on the bow to see this! This will be about 2 hours after leaving Amsterdam.
