Suzwed Posted January 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2018 We will be cruising in mid July and have ports of call in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. We will be spending several days in Anchorage before the cruise. Was wondering where the best excursions are to experience the dog sledding? Would prefer on snow or ice rather than dirt if possible. wolfie11 Posted January 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2018 Juneau is the best port IMO with the most tours.
Rare Hobbes67 Posted January 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2018 Do you have a recommendation for the best independent tour company?
Rare Crew News Posted January 23, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2018 I recommend Skagway for dog sledding: http://www.rogerjett-photography.com/place/alaska-2/skagway-2/dog-sledding/
wolfie11 Posted January 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 24, 2018 I think Coastal Helicopters in Juneau still does independent tours but they're not much cheaper than the shore excursions - $500+. Temsco is in Juneau and Skagway, but I'm pretty sure if you're on a ship you have to book them as a shore excursion.
