Oh no- Hazel has gone!

Perhaps she's just gone home on leave - the crew have vatying lengths of contract - 6/8/10 month but tend to have a couple of months at home at the end of the period. None of them will be on board 100% of the time although it is disappointing when some well loved members of staff aren't on board when you return to a ship. I can appreciate your disappointment Flopsy - she's a star! Do we know whether the report of her having 'left' the ship is for a new job, change of direction, or just left to go home for a while? Hopefully she will be back on board for your next trip Flopsy.

Just back from 1 week on Dream(Cuban Fusion) 1 week Secrets St James,Montego Bay. spoke to hazel going home for several months she said not sure about returning"its not the same any more"!!!

Quick review as still unpacking. The Dream same old ship, the crew make it what it is,they are brilliant.Food good plenty of choice, better than last year in Barbados. Show team very good,3 strong male lead singers and had to work hard with Steve (cruise Director) to keep people happy on bad weather days.Plenty of people ill with chest and throat infections not allowed to serve ones self any where (well done!!). Secret St James what a quality place highly recommend to do AFTER weeks cruise, you will see why.More detailed review to follow

Sadly this is not the first time we've heard this from crew. We know of a few ex-Thomson staff who have literally jumped ship - often to other cruise lines after many years with Thomson. I don't think it's just the passengers who have detected changes in the last couple of years or so - and unfortunately not for the better.

yes... we also noticed at christmas that a few 'familiar (crew) faces' have jumped ship

One of our favourite waiters (Head Waiter) on the Celebration who has been with them all the while we have been cruising (6 years now) has jumped & now has a good land based job in the Philipines. So sad to see them go but I guess they don't all want to be at sea forever.

There is a lovely married couple on the Dream. He is a waiter and she is a bar steward. They have 2 young children who are looked after by her mother back home. When we were on, she had just returned from her leave and her husband was due to go of on his. That way she told us the children would have at least one parent for a few months rather than them both being away. She said that she would do this for another couple of years until they have saved up enough money then she would return home for good.

Yanis and Jodel, a lovely couple, and were both onboard in December when we were on.
