Where is Liberty and How are Things On board?

Recommended Posts

I'm on liberty. We have had great weather. We are well south of storm. Captain released a video on the tv stating his opinion on storm/ analysis of weather.... he thought we would be ok to make it back Sunday( this video was released yesterday afternoon). I think this could be royal carribean trying to be positive/ not scare people and no reason to make a decision until tomorrow. It seems to me that it will be hard to get the support staff at terminal back by 5am Sunday morning if there is an Evacuation of Galveston. Also the people on the next cruise are not going to be able to drive/fly in. Just my thoughts will update if captain makes an announcement

That is a really good point. I guess you have at sea day tomorrow which may get kind of rough as the ship heads north.

No update so far. we are suppose to depart at 430 so I assume we will hear something soon. There are reports that the Carnaval ship that is docked next to us and on the same itinerary will be overnighting here---I spoke with Captain who I saw in the hall and he seemed optimistic we would get back on time (this was at 230) but seemed to me that he was just waiting for more information and seems the port has now announced they will be closed Sunday. Really think Royal Caribbean is missing the ball by not making a decision --People need to plan alternatives as well as people traveling in for the next cruise

I don't know how you can say that. No one knows what it will be like yet

And the third Carnival ship is staying overnight in Cozumel. It drives me crazy when Royal doesn't act quickly. Carnival did, and so could RCI. The responsible thing would be to stay put until you know when the port is going to reopen or find another safe port. I would not want to be in the gulf waiting for a hurricane to pass.

For those on the ship, safe travels and I hope your Captain and crew take good care of you.

I'm sure other plans are being made, just in case. In the past more then once passengers have either stayed on ship a couple days and few other times they have disembarked at alternate port. Unfortunately it is Hurricane Season but it's been 12 yrs since Hurricane of this size has hit US and we do forget. Prayers and hope all is safe for all effected by this.

I have been watching the weather channel all day and I do not think you will be going back to Galveston Sunday. But we shall see. I mainly feel for the passengers getting on next as they need to make alternate plans. I guess now is the time those that have cruise insurance are very happy - or those that booked travel through Air2Sea.

As for you guys - enjoy your time and hope all stay safe!

The talk of insurance makes me think about the passenger cars at Galveston sitting there this week. I hope it works out well for everyone involved.

Is this the same captain/cruise line that sailed the Anthem out of Cape Liberty into a small hurricane that damaged the ship and sent passengers to the hospital? Maybe someone should stop and think about the debacle sooner rather than later.

Royal thinks they will make more money by going out to sea. They can open the casinos, and the shops. But they are NOT going back to Galveston until Tues, and the passengers should be told, also the next cruise passengers. This is NOT right or fair to all passengers. I feel that this is very bad management.
