So glad you got the cases. Now you are fully set for your cruise.

Have a great one.

Sue,

I feel like a child waking up Christmas morning knowing Santa has left an extra present! Whilst we have ‘made light’ of the luggage issue it will be nice not to wear the same few items repeatedly!

Also on the positive side I have been looking for ages for a new cocktail dress that isn’t black and I found just what I was looking for yesterday! We have been acutely aware how lucky we have been compared to many ‘lost luggage’ passengers in that we did have one luggage, that we always ‘cross pack’ and that we have had a ‘shopping day’ in Fort Lauderdale.

As I was repacking last night I suddenly realised with the new clothes we have all bought and a fairly large bag of new cosmetics I have too many clothes and may need to buy another suitcase to get back over the pond! For boarding this morning I may need to check in a large Macy’s bag!

It has been interesting that concierges/check in staff etc at the hotel have really expected us to be cross with AA and BA for the luggage issues but to be honest we have nothing but praise from start to finish...

They pulled out all the stops to get us flights to Florida.

They literally met us from our Manchester flight and drove us across the taxiways to ensure we connected with our Dallas flight. Really it is amazing one luggage did make it.

At check in despite us only being in business for the over the pond sector of our journey we still had lounge access throughout and fast track.

The lady who broke the news to us at Fort Worth genuinely seemed to take on board our cruise issues. On line and telephone contact has been excellent.

The lounge staff in Fort Worth helped us book a hotel in Fort Lauderdale rather than us landing in Miami at 11pm with no fixed destination. She also booked our Super Shuttle for us. She also realised by the time we checked in to our hotel we may struggle for food options and gave us a ‘doggie bag’ of sandwiches, chips and biscuits so we wouldn’t starve!

Giving us the option to collect ourselves last night rather than risking hanging around today just made so much sense!

As we have thanked our multiple helpers throughout our journey we have been surprised that they have truly appreciated our gratitude....it does make you wonder how many unreasonable passengers they have to deal with!

6.35 am here, my body clock has no idea what time it is! After a few glasses of Champagne it really won’t matter.

Sincere best wishes to you and Richard!

Oh I am so pleased you got your luggage! I would have done the same as you and got in a taxi for it. Enjoy your cruise!

Wendy

PS Look after the ship - we are on the cruise after you!

Wendy, I promise faithfully to personally ensure it is all in tip top shape for you! After the stresses and traumas of the last few days the Courvoisier suppies may be a little diminished though! I will start a new thread at some point in the next day or two so look out for it and ask if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to answer.

Oh thank you! But my mum may be upset if there’s no Courvoisier left!! However you so deserve it. I so understand the amazement when you didn’t scream and yell. We have delayed luggage so often - always have to take connecting flights - and we just laugh these days and hand over our itinerary so they can get the luggage to us.

Chemmo, I’m so happy that you’ve recovered your bags! It’s nice to know the airline and cruise staff were so willing to step up to try to get you, and your luggage, to the ship on time. Kudos to your DH and son for making the luggage run. BTW I’m picturing you looking fabulous in your new posh frock, accessorized with a brilliant, happy smile:). Best wishes for a wonderful, relaxing cruise for all of you!

Cheers,

Michelle

So impressed with the service you received. It restores ones faith in large companies to read your story.

However, I do believe that by treating those you dealt with as human beings doing their job in a difficult situation probably ensured that they did their utmost to help you. What many people forget in your situation it that none of it is the fault of the representatives you are speaking to.

An extra suitcase is a minor issue in return for the bonus of a new posh frock you love.

Have a really wonderful cruise.

Received a phone call 9pm to say our luggage was arriving in Fort Lauderdale at 11pm but they couldn’t guarantee to get it to our hotel for 10.30am tomorrow. The alternative was for us to collect.

Rather than risk a fiasco tomorrow better half and son took a taxi to the airport. They have just returned with luggage (midnight)!

One nice part of the experience has been contact with Celebrity. I let Zoey (shore side concierge) know by email yesterday we had a potential problem. She was ready and willing for me to phone her in the morning if we still had no luggage and to sort out necessary liaisons for us. So reassuring....

Keen to try the new ‘Special Delivery’ now we have luggage to deliver! Will report back on how good it is!

Sincere thanks again for support and advice over a few very trying days! Promise to dedicate my first Champagne tomorrow to all of you!

So glad that after a difficult few days you have arrived and now still have your healthy sense of humor and that fancy new frock! Have a great time.

Such a good feeling to have all of your bags! It happened to us once in Europe - some of our bags were lost and we didn't know until they arrived on the ship if we would have all of our clothes or not.

All luggage safely on board and unpacked before muster!

Saga ended!

We are so glad that you were able to make it onboard with your luggage today.

I personally try to not fly anymore due to the numerous issues.

Wondering how the expedited luggage collection and escorting thru the check in and boarding went?

I was so pleased to come across this thread for two reasons. The first one is because you were so patient and so positive and the second reason is because you encountered people who made a great effort to help you. And I'm sure your attitude was largely responsible for bringing out the best in the people working with you. It's a lot easier to be nice when people are nice with you.

I'm sure there are many, many people who take pride in doing a good job and go out of their way to help others, but their stories are getting lost in a deluge of bad press on a daily basis. The airlines, in particular, have come under fire because of some bad decisions, and it's easy to read them and just assume that "nobody cares anymore." Obviously some people do.

Have a wonderful cruise and after-cruise vacation.

Glad it worked out...When Sw Air "lost" our luggage...meaning it never got to our plane, they flew it all over the place to get from NY to Seattle. It arrived by taxi at 1 am of cuise day.....another close call with a good outcome!

You were very lucky and had good customer service all around.

Enjoy your cruise....and your new frock.

Chemmo, have a fabulous cruise. Please post a picture of your new frock. Your good attitude definitely contributed to the many customer service folks going even more above the norm for you.

Special Delivery was great! Traffic was manic as we got to the port...we saw the ‘Special Delivery’ banner but our taxi was not allowed to stop. As it pulled in where directed porters wanted to take our luggage and didn’t seem to know anything about the service. We then spotted a lady holding a sign and headed to her....After that everything was wonderful. She called over a porter who put our bags on a trolley. We were then escorted through security and to the desk. The lovely lady, Sylvia, then handed us over to the future cruises manager, David, who escorted us to Michael’s.....I would guess about 15 mins in total from bag drop. When we arrived at our room after lunch in Luminae (1.30ish) our luggage was all there. Unpacking which we normally see as a chore was a real pleasure this cruise! Wonderful to be all organised before muster!

We did as we said we would in a previous post and drank to the good health of all of you who have followed our adventures so far and offered a wonderful mix of advice, comfort and good will.

I promise to start a new thread describing our adventures now on board....
