Earliest Departure Flight

What is the earliest flight you would feel comfortable booking out of Hobby with a ship returning to Galveston scheduled to arrive at back at port at 8 am on a Saturday? I will need to check luggage at the airport but I am pretty sure I can carry my luggage off the ship myself. I'm not one who wants to cut it too close, but I don't want to pay to stay overnight in a cruddy hotel if I can avoid it.

Carnival recommends not booking an outbound flight earlier than 1:30 for either Houston airport. There is no guarantee you will be able to disembark at 8:00 & it can be a 2 hour ride from Galveston. You also should arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight.

I agree with Garth2. The port and Hobby are not that close. Roughly 45 miles. Additionally, there are many discussions in Gulf Coast Departures about transportation to/from the airport.
