I need help! We are looking at doing a 12 day cruise on the Galaxy next April but have read that there are some vibration problems at the rear of the ship....has anyone experienced this? Are they working to correct the problem? Any help would be great! Thanks!

The problems you've read of, as are many reports of so-called cruise ship vibration phantoms, are highly overexagerated.

It's not really a "problem," per say, more a side-effect of those massive propellors allowing you to enjoy a mobile vacation. The vibration is extremely slight and really not very noticeable. :-)

Only vibration we ever felt was when entering and leaving port. We were in the dining room as we left Baltimore, and that's the most noticable place.

EVERY ship we've ever been on has been exactly the same way. Galaxy was VERY stable as far as we were concerned. Book it, and enjoy!!

Take Care,
Jaime

It's a cruise ship for cryin out loud! .. The engines are IN THE BACK (for cryin out loud).

It's not a problem, and no there are no plans to 'fix the problem' because there is no problem, because, it's a cruise ship for cryin out loud!

I sailed Galaxy in October 03 and April 04. Never noticed any unusual vibration. You will hear vibration complaints about every ship. It's all normal. Go on Galaxy and have fun.

If you staying in one of the aft cabins there is a very loud and distinct vibration from the thrusters when the ship is pulling in and out of port. The room will shake and rattle but it only lasts for about five minutes. It is a characteristic of the Century class ships. It will definitely wake you up and get your attention since it occurs early in the morning when docking. That being said, the aft family cabins are the best cabins I have ever stayed in on a cruiseship.

Wow, you could be nicer, it was an honest question and deserved an honest, polite answer.
I just got off the Galaxy after a 14 day cruise.
The only vibratins I ever felt was in the dining room as we were leaving a port. Otherwise none at all.
Hope this helps

The Galaxy has no vibration problem/s. This can be a frustrating topic as a lot of newbie cruisers have made comments about the vibrtion when entering or leaving port. Pretty soon the rumors are flying and some one thinks there is a vibration problem when, in fact, there is none.

Ohhh I feel so much better!!!

ditto what dkjretired said. We stayed in the aft Family Oceanview cabin two months ago on Mercury and it was TERRIFIC. The vibration thing is fleeting and no more to be worried about than the potholes or speed bump you probably have to go over every day somewhere along the route to work ...
