Which cruise line? I know Royal Caribbean has luggage valet service where they'll check you in for your flight, take your bags and everything right on the ship. You won't have to see or think about your bags until you get off the airplane when you get home.

As for what to do for the day, I would also suggest the water taxi as a fun way to get around. Check out Las Olas and Hollywood Beach, the water taxi services both.

Princess has an EZ Check program that will check your luggage to your destination and get your your boarding pass all for about $25.00 plus luggage fees. Does not seem to have a weight limit either. Have used it several times and it is a hassle saver.

Last time I had a flight like that we took an Uber to the nearest rent a car place - rented for the day and returned the car to the airport location rent a car place. It was only $60 or so. Check prices online - might be the cheapest way to go.

You can cab to FLL for about $15 (Uber will be closer to $10) and pay to store your bags there - most airlines will not accept checked bags until 3-4 hours prior to departure. Then you are free to explore the FLL area - Las Olas, Water Taxi, beach, etc. www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist info.

Your other option is a day pass to one of the resorts - use their pool and other facilities (tip them to store your bags). www.resortpass.com is one source to check for hotels and resorts offering passes on the day you need one.

Good luck! :D

Please come back after your cruise and report on what solution you chose and how it worked out. Lots of questions and suggestions posted on this board, but not enough after-action reports. Have a great cruise! :)
