On-board Booking

We'll be taking our first Silversea cruise 3 weeks from today, 7/24 Silver Spirit Copenhagen to Stockholm. If we like the cruise, we may try to book another Silversea cruise.

We can't find a tread describing the benefits, if any, of booking a cruise while one is on a ship. On other lines, we've had discounts, reduced deposits, shipboard credits on our current cruise, and even a free cruise video. In some cases, we've even gotten the on-board discount for cruises booked before or shortly after the cruise.

We would appreciate an explanation of the benefits of booking on-board a Silversea ship. Thanks.

Welcome J & J. May your first SS voyage be grand!

The benefits of booking on board at SS are that you receive 5% off the price of a future voyage and the discount can be combined with other promotional savings programs that may be available. In addition, you don’t have to make a booking for a specific voyage. So, the on board booking is taken as a $2,000 deposit per couple and treated as a floating deposit that you must convert to an actual booking on a specific voyage within 6-months. We did just this a couple of weeks ago ourselves while on board the Silver Muse. If you choose not to make a booking within 6-months, then the full $2,000 is refunded to you.

Unfortunately this 5% does not apply to a second suite booked for family members, who are not on board for the onboard booking.
Sometimes you can make it work out. We have had friends book for us while they were on board and we all got the discount. Never hurts to try, ask, etc... They can be flexible.

And there is also ... which may be combinable on-board if they are being "helpful".
