Cell service

Has anyone been to PR recently that can comment on the cell service? I know that San Juan is likely better than other places, since I've been reading many places have power back in the main city. Just wondering how communication will be once my party is off the ship!

Was in San Juan in January. Marginal cell service (Verizon) and no internet. Starbucks had WiFi but really overloaded as everyone was shoulder to shoulder trying to get emails. Told many cell towers still not functioning properly.

Depends on your company but you will have voice and text all over the island. Internet speed depends on location and company.

Thank you all for your replies! I think as long as my group can get a text through saying "Heading *insert place here*" in case we separate, that will be enough for us! I'm not looking to download any movies or anything =P

We were in Puerto Rico in Jan, and just in San Juan last weekend- Sprint has good service in San Juan and Ponce.

Was in San -Juan last weekend. I use T Mobile and had no trouble talking to my daughter in the states

We had service last week with US Cellular and Verizon.

T-Mobile is working very good in most urban areas, so you should be good to go. Plus, if need be, the Project Loon balloons are helping out when needed to provide service.

Just got home last night and we had no problem with cell service, calls, texts, and internet the whole time we were in PR. We have Sprint.

We just got home and had no problems with our AT&T service. Great reception all over OSJ.

Have spent the last week in San Juan. Going home today! Cell service is great, except most people are walking around missing the sights and glued to their phones.

If it's any help, the latest version of Speedtest has a coverage map by carrier that can show where signal is available.

Was there two weeks ago and had no service with Verizon. My husband has AT&T and had no problems with service.
