Best NCL/Cruise Perk Ever!

Just got off the NCL Sky on Friday....by far the best perk I have had on the five cruises I have been on is the free drink card in the casino. Saved plenty of money and was amazing to have!!!! If you have the opportunity to book your cruise this way....DO IT!

Is it like in most where you have to be playing to receive a drink? I am a frequent Vegas visitor (our cruise is a "free" gift from Harrah's :o) and while I will gamble a bit, I don't want to spend my whole time in the casino - after all we all know that free drinks (and cruises!) are not exactly free right?

If you book through casino at seas (NCL's casino program) or through Harrahs they will have your casino card and attached free drink card waiting in your room when you arrive.

Otherwise you can get the card for free once you reach 1500 points - which is equivalent to playing through $7500 on a slot.

Last cruise I earned a drink card the very last night of the cruise. This time I wised up and booked through CAS. I recieved a BOGO deal on a balcony room and best of all a drink card! My question is does my husband get his own drink card even though I used my CAS card to get the room? Of is it just one card? Thanks!

You will both receive the card. Was just calling today to book another cruise and they sure aren't offering deals like they used to...:( Oh well, still better than nothing.

Can you believe I've been on 8 NCL cruises and don't know how the CAS works. My friend signed up last week on our cruise but she gambles a lot so I didn't think about it. I just gambled without the card.

My friend said she needed 1500 pts to get free drinks but didn't build up that many. But please explain what it means to book a cruise through CAS.

Thanks,

If you have never signed up for the players card on the ship and used it, you won't be able to book through them:( That is how they track your play and decide what to offer you when you book with them.

I have always gotten atleast the standard CAS discount which is 20% off the cruise rate. I have also received a comped room twice. Our Epic cruise we just got off of was a comped cruise and we just had to pay the taxes. It all depends on how many points you rack up as well as the ship and date that you are looking at booking.

However, like I said, they don't seem to be offering the same discounts/comps they used to several years back. But hey, 20% off a cruise and a free drink card at the casino is better than any other discount I have ever received!;)

It is a seperate division of NCL and you are not technically booking direct with NCL so you have to call them with questions/concerns.

If you have ever used the players card, their number is 18777529625.

Thanks Kevin, that's what I was looking for. I'll be sure to sign up for the card on next year's cruise, which was booked before I even took this one, and be sure to use it while gambling.

Do I get the 20% off just for having the card, using it on my next cruise (2012) and calling their number to book the following year's (2013) cruise?

Do I need to accumulate a certain number of points to get the 20% off?

I probably won't gamble enough to get 1500 points though, for free drinks and I heard points accumulate for 1 year only.

Does it help if DH gets a card too for when he gambles? Is there some sort of combined points for both of us?

Is the card just for slots or all gambling; he likes craps and roulette?

Can the discount be combined with a pre-paid deposit bought on board?

Is there gambling on an Alaska cruise?

Sorry for all the questions but I think I missed out on this for my last 7 cruises with NCL ... ;) I will certainly investigate this before next year's cruise.

Thanks for your help!

Just some helpful hints. I booked through Harrah's Total Rewards which books through the CAS program. I received a % off based upon what my Harrah's status was (which was not high at all). The Harrah's card is free at any Harrah's casino (just sign up). Also, everyone that was assigned to my stateroom also got a free drink card if they were over 21 which was fantastic. I was able to go up to the bar in the casino several times to get a drink when I wasn't gambling (although I definately gave my fair share of money to the casino).

No they will research your play on your last cruise and let you know if you qualify to book through them.

Do I need to accumulate a certain number of points to get the 20% off?

Yes, but I don't know exactly what that amount is

I probably won't gamble enough to get 1500 points though, for free drinks and I heard points accumulate for 1 year only.

I do believe that is correct as far as points accumulating, however, your play history remains for quite a while.

Yes, they will look at both yours and your DH's playing history when considering what discount to give you.

Is the card just for slots or all gambling; he likes craps and roulette?

All gambling

Can the discount be combined with a pre-paid deposit bought on board?

Yes

Is there gambling on an Alaska cruise?

Not sure on that one. I assume so.

You definitely need to check it out. Nothing lost by calling them.

You still have to qualify for the 20% off...I don't know how many points that requires though.

I think it is actually 18 months that they accumulate. Make sure you tell the casino host at the beginning of the cruise so they can transfer your points over to that ship.

Yes, you and your DH can combine points together. He can also get points for playing table games, but they don't add up as fast.

Yes, you can use it with your cruise reward deposit. Otherwise the casino rate is not combinable with much else anymore.

I have not been to Alaska yet, but you will be able to gamble when not at port just like at other places.

And like nfglory1 pointed out, if you have a harrahs card call them. I think just for joining for free with a harrahs card you get 5% off and the drink card. Diamond you use to get 20% but not sure now.

Harrahs rates are in 5% intervals. Gold 5% Plat 10% Diamond 15% and I believe Seven stars is 25%.

That one above seven stars that you have to be invited to be in includes 4 paid for cruises a year in a suite. I know people who run 100K+ thru machines and tables at harrahs yearly and dont get that one so id immagine its for $1million+.

Our last Cruise, DH was very lucky in the casino and earned a drink card on the second night we were there. His winning paid for our OBC that cruise and he played for the rest of the week with their $... it was a great cruise. I am just a light gambler so I never did earn the card but the bartender got to know us and let dh get 2 drinks on occasion :)

We got a promo for a free cruise all we had to pay was for port charges and taxes for each of us but it was an inside state room. I'm sorry but, last cruise was a balcony, I don't think I could do an inside room again. I like the air and sun in our room. They let us upgrade to a balcony for a very fair price. And all this time I thought they gave us a free cruise cause they want their $$ Back lol.... sorry... that has already been spent!

I didn't know that both of us get a drink card. That will be nice! :D

While on the Epic, I earned my drink card on the 2nd last night. When we got home, I called Casinos at Sea to book another cruise, just a 3 day this time. They offered the 20% so we booked. 10 minutes later, they called back to say that they were comping us a balcony. They pooled the points from myself and my two friends, so all we are paying is for the port charges and taxes.

I just booked another cruise through them and because I already had one with them, they could "only" give me 20% off. Only. Man I like this Casinos at Sea thing :). I'm no high roller, but usual bet $10 per hand at Let it Ride or 3 card poker, but I do like to spend a lot of time there, so that helped. We do most of drinking at the tables, so it's a huge savings.

If you book your cruise through Casinos at Sea, you will automatically get the drink card, for use in the casino. You do need to sign upland be tracked first though, just like others mentioned.

Yes, the other day at the end of our Epic cruise we totaled our points together and I told my wife what we played through and her response was HOLY @#$% NO WAY!!! But hey, we came out $100 ahead so it was all good! ;)

We have done far better in the casinos on the ship lately than any land based casinos.

The casino host also will automatically comp some to all of your room charges if you book through CAS, depending on your play. If you did not book through CAS just ask the host, on the last day, to check if you qualify. Even if you don't play alot, the host may take something off your bill. :)

They are getting pretty tight on that from our experience. On Jewel and Sky cruises we took, got a pretty good rebate, on the Epic late last year it was basically just 1% of our points (4000 points got us $40)
