Taxi to Rendezvous

My husband and I are looking to get a day pass for this resort on an upcoming cruise. Can anyone share some insight in getting a taxi to take us there? In the past we have went to Rodney Bay, but were grouped in with other people from our ship. Taxis waited and waited until they were full, and we all had to pick a common time to get picked up.

If it is just my husband and I going, where do we get a taxi, and any insight on cost?

You can get a taxi right at the port, it will be about $10US for about a 5-10 minute ride, depending on traffic through the city. You can arrange with the driver to take you back at a certain time or ask at the resort to arrange a pick up for you. There should be no waiting on a taxi to fill up as it is not a typical run for the taxi drivers.

It is also an easy walk, about 20or so minutes. Consider that if you want, save a few bucks, and no worries about traffic and so on.

Enjoy!

You can pay for the day pass on arrival, but you do need to make a reservation in advance.

Day passes are normally about $60US for 10-4 - if you want longer hours, it would cost more. You can contact them via the emails at the website or do a quick search of this site for more direct contact emails/numbers.

Enjoy.

Is that $10 per taxi or per person? Thanks!

All taxi rates are per vehicle, for up to 3 passengers, additional passengers will incur an additional (minor) cost. Sometimes, the drivers don't bother when it's 4 and sometimes they do, but by governance, it is supposed to be for up to 3.

Seriously, it is a short walk though.

Enjoy.

Hey CascarGirl,

How about walking to The Rendevouz then taking a cab back to your cruise ship?

As others have noted here the walk is a great way to go. Cater 20 mins - 1/2 an hour and there is a sidewalk/road shoulder the entire way.

If you decide to walk and you are leaving Pointe Seraphine you will make a left turn as soon as you get to the main road. Your landmark will be a Rubis petrol station on your left.

Hang a left at the petrol station then follow the road (about a 4 min walk) to the intersection that abuts a small airstrip. Make a right turn here and walk along the sidewalk till you reach the end of the airstrip (about 15 mins)

Next make a left turn which will take you along the base of the airstrip and the Rendevouz will be straight ahead of you.

Personally I think the walk is a great option as it will get you out into the fresh air and allow you to soak up the sights, smells and sounds of the Real St Lucia.

Best of all your walk will help you work up a little sweat which will make diving into the ocean at the Rendevouz so much more enjoyable...

And if your cruise ship docks in Castries cater for an extra 10 minutes of walking.

Enjoy St Lucia and do tell how it all works out...

How does Rendevouz compare to sandles

How does Rendevouz compare to sandles

Depends on which Sandals. It is a smaller resort, only 100 rooms, but as you are only on a day pass, that part doesn't matter. The day passes at Rendezvous are much less expensive than Sandals resorts, and Rendezvous is also closer to the port, so less time on the roads.

Rendezvous is on a long stretch of beahc, with calm swimming waters, 2 lovely pools, lazy river and beautiful grounds. Lots of sunchairs around both the pool and beach, excellent dining, great drinks and excellent service. Also, activities happening all around. Tends to be a bit quieter than your average Sandals, great for relaxing.

Sandals are also very good, lots of activities, etc. There are 3 on the island, so it would depend on which you were comparing it to. The only one with a comparable beach is the Grande, about 30-40 minutes ride from the port. Several pools, large resort with over 300 rooms (so lots of guests!), sometimes trouble getting a chair, especially if you want any shade, nice stretch of beach and so forth. sSeveral dining options, drinks, and so forth.

La Toc is the closest to the port, not a great beach, often red-flagged (very rough), several pools, etc., built up a hillside, so some dramatic veiws from the top of the resort, and so forth. Again, activities, several dining options and so forth.

Halcyon is the smallest Sandals on the island, lovely grounds, decent beach, pools, dining options, etc. About 15-20 minutes ride from the port.

Rendezvous day passes cost about $60-$70US pp, Sandals day passes are $100US pp.

Enjoy, whichever you choose.

Can anyone that has been to the Rendevouz resort tell me if there is any decent snorkeling on this beach?

There is not really any snorkeling off any of the beaches in the north of the island - C-Bay, Sandals, whatever. There is a little bit of snorkeling off Pigeon Island, and a little bit off Smugglers Cove beach (not to be confused with the beach at Smugglers Cove resort, it is next door).

The main snorkeling on the island is to the south, starting around Anse Cochon (Ti Kaye Resort, which does offer day passes, at about $75US), and down the coast through Soufriere, and around to Laborie.

Good luck and enjoy!

We have been to Rendevous a number of times over the years - this same property was a Sandals resort about 10 years ago. I do not think I would ever think of walk as the roads are busy and without sidewalks. Be a sport and spring for the taxi both ways.

The resort has gone thru rehab a few times and we have not been there in three years, but the beach is very nice and the proximity to the port makes it a perfect place to hangout for the day.

There are sidewalks all the way there now HS2BS - they were put in during the road reconstruction, and added from Pt Seraphine to the curve about a year ago. You are not walking on the edge of the road, but on a sidewalk the whole way, unless you choose to walk on the other side of the road where there is a wide edge near the playing field, or by the airport fence. At 20-30 minutes, it's a very easy, flat, sidewalk walk.

Enjoy, either way.

We did the day pass this past Jan. and walked from the port to the Resort. The only problem we had was there wasn't a sign for the Rendevous Resort, and we missed it! We walked down this little road after the roundabout, and had passed the Resort. We just walked over along the beach. That way, we didn't miss it!

I am writing from Rendezvous right now. It is quite lovely! They have free wi-fi too. We spent the morning on the beach. Found 2 chairs under a palm tree. All the chairs under umbrellas were taken. We paid $10 for a cab to get here although we probably could have walked if we had worn tennis shoes rather than flip flops. When we arrived we were escorted to a little office to pay the $65 per person day pass fee. The nice lady showed us around. The lunch was a nice buffet: salads, cold cuts, fish, chicken and fruits. There was wine available as well. This afternoon we have moved to the pool area. Plenty of spots open both in the shade and in the sun. There is a nice swim up bar. We bumped into some fellow cruisers on the beach from England who said they were threatened and harassed down the beach. I was glad we chose a place to go and settle in for the day. I would definitely come here again.

Thanks for the write up!

The entry fee, that includes lunch + drinks? Are there any water sports or possibility of having a massage?

Yes, the $65includes entrance, all you can drink, lunch and snacks, pools, lazy river, activities, etc. - no motorized watersports (although the watersports guys don't really know who's who, you could try). They do have a lovely spa where you can book a massage. good option for a lazy - no kids day (adults only)

Thank you - now I'm tossing up between this place & Ti Kaye... i noticed that Ti kaye only include 2 x non alcoholic drinks.. does the above inlcude alcoholic?

I will enquire about massage pricing..

Is there snorkelling by this beach?

And lastly.... can you actually see the Ptions from the cruise ship? (stationary, coming in / or out?)

So many decisions!

Yes - drinks includes alcoholic and non, mixed and frozen, wine, beers, sodas, etc. As noted in earlier posts in this, and other threads, no - there is no snorkeling off this beach. Most all snorkeling is down in the Marine Reserve, which begins at Anse Cochon and goes south past the Pitons.

As for actually seeing the Pitons from the ship - depending on your route, you will either pass them early morning or sail past in the evening (although it may be getting dark).

Hope that helps!

Reed Princess

How do we contact the resort to arrange for the day pass or is it first come first serve? This looks lovely.

I was also looking at Ti Kaye - but we stopped there on a prior trip and Rendezvous seems a bit more luxurious with more amenities. Would you agree?
