parrothead, it would be a better idea for you to research each of your port of calls and read what others have done and what they have thought of any tour. You question is vague and open ended and you have given no details of your interests.

since it's Eurodam in September, pretty sure their stops are Juneau, Sitka and Ketchikan. Not sure what's "vague". We don't want to do what the cruise ships offer. We want to give our money to local businesses. As I mentioned the words "visit, see and eat".

We cruised on her this past September - don't forget Victoria, BC

Definitely do some research on each port of call the Alaska board will help and see what interests you.

We have always used third party tour operators on our cruises with the exception of the Mt Roberts Tram we purchased on board - after our whale watch/Mendenhall Glacier tour with Juneau Whale Watch, having dinner at Tracy's Crab Shack and shopping at the Taku Store, we were too tired to go up the tram and by purchasing the tix from HAL, we were able to return it for a full refund.
