Good morning to all!

This is a first for us. Not to cruising but to flying into Ft Lauderdale and cruising out of miami.

The hotel and transportation from the airport to the hotel the day before then to the cruise ship the day of the cruise. Then we would need to return to the airport when the cruise returns. Does anyone have any recommendations on the easiest way to do this? Also does anyone have recommendations on medium-priced Hotel?

Cruise date is December 8th 2017 returning December 17th.

Flying into Fort Lauderdale December 7th and flying out of Fort Lauderdale December 17th.

Thank you so very much for all your help.:)

Tons of hotel recommendations, transport, etc.

Most will tell you to stay in Ft Lauderdale, with a taxi to the hotel, then shuttle to the port the next day. Shuttle back to the airport on your return. Or Uber, in place of shuttles.

You are a bit late in the game. Some things might be limited.

As to transportation, Uber works well between FLL and the Port of Miami. Pick up from your hotel will be with little wait and the ride each way is about 45 minutes. On the return from POM to FLL you can prereserve your pick up time at the port which is very convenient. We have done this in the past and will do so again in March.

I looked into doing this, but didn't actually do it... so I don't know if there are any pitfalls. Rent a car at FFL, you can usually drop it off at the Miami airport with no transfer fee, then you can grab a cab/uber cheap from the Miami airport to the port of Miami. then you can explore Miami a little while you are there for the night

We flew into FLL 2 Days early, rented a car at the airport, turned it in at the downtown site the morning of the cruise, took the free rental car shuttle to the Miami port. No reason this wouldn’t work just as well even coming in the day before. Having a car gives you many more options for places to stay and places to eat. An important factor in High Season in south Florida. You can usually rent a GPS but we just took along the Garmin from my vehicle, no worries about navigation in an unfamiliar place.

Coming back from the cruise we again rented a car, went to the Everglades park south of Homestead for the day. Overnight near FLL, turned in the car and flew home the next day.

We did this very thing last month. We Ubered from Ft. Lauderdale airport to hotel on South Beach for about $30. Then Ubered the next morning from South Beach to the Ship for $7. Then from ship back to Ft. Lauderdale Airport for about $27.

Very fast, very smooth.
