It is of the utmost importance that EACH AND EVERY ONE of you guard your personal information VERY carefully when posting on these, as well as other, message board forums.

I realize that a few recently-registered members have offered their assistance to you, claiming to be NCL Employees. Since you have NO WAY OF ACTUALLY VERIFYING their employment with any cruise line and anyone can lay claim to to being even the King of England if they want, PLEASE DO NOT POST your personal information on the boards.

We aren't trying to discredit anyone who actually does work at NCL. But they must understand the venue in which they are participating.....anonymous. I'm sure they are really only trying to help, but offers of "customer service" really don't belong on this forum, and would only encourage those who aren't sincere in posting in a copycat manner.

I thank everyone for their cooperation.

well if he gives you his extension at NCL and you call the main number and are transferred to him...do you think he works there or is it like Charade and you can only call during lunch hour(you have to remember the movie to know what I mean)

but thanks for the heads up

I just joined the cruise boards but I have seen much of what you say, many people do put personal information out there and really should not, under any conditions post personal info. Thank you for putting this at the top!

Thanks for posting about not putting information that is private. It is like using email on group message boards or IM.
I am enjoying reading the posts and thanks for the info.

Well, anyone who believes that there is a KING of England needs to wake up and smell the afternoon tea.

I will have a drawing from everyone that transfers to my personal account all their on board ship credit for a free cruise. Minimum requirements are that you transfer at least $1000 in onboard ship credit.

Oh, yeah, the free cruise will be the premier sailing and our destination is Kansas.

Now, does anyone want to buy some property that I am selling?

Just give me the pin to all your credit cards and I will drop your interest rate to 1% fixed!!

People are so gullible and will go for almost anything that sounds too good to pass up.

Thanks for posting this to remind people that there are predators out there that will prey on unsuspecting people.

You can NEVER, EVER overemphasize safety and security, Laura. Unfortunately, we've gotten too good at putting fraud alerts on our credit reports.

Just follow the tip that hopefully Mom took the time to tell you.

I just attempted to pre register (it's mandatory)with my NCL cruise and the website that they want me to use is NOT ENCRYPTED. I'm stunned by this, as they want my passport numbers and a lot of personal information. Can you believe this? I sure hope that they have an alternative available, because in this day & age, that's ridiculous! Maybe you'll tell me not to be paranoid, but I once had a key logger attempt to steal $1800 from my account online, so I am NOT going to risk this.

You should have received your cruise documents (snail mail) by now if you are sailing 10/14 unless you booked late (within the past 30 days)?

Registration forms should be in the packet and you can fax them to NCL.
Or, can you print out the blanks? If so, print them out and complete them by hand and fax them to NCL.

I understand you fear/pain...I just went through "identity theft" UGH!

I totally agree with your reluctance to part with sensitive info on an unencrypted website - HOWEVER - I just went to the NCL website and the Pre-Registration site does have an encryption sign (padlock) showing up - I assume we are talking about the "Advance Guest Registration" here ? https://www.ncl.com/nclweb/secure/bo...stLanding.html - this is the page that leads you to Advance Registration and also E-docs etc. - even though you do not enter any personal info, it is already "padlocked"
Are you looking at something different?

BTW - I tried Firefox and IE - both have padlocks

In addition to the "padlock" that shows (I use IE), there is an s with the http, which indicates secure http. Just another way to verify the security incase the padlock does not appear.

Thanks Laura, our moderator here at Cruise Critic. No matter how safe we feel here at the CC Community we need to be reminded, from time to time, that we really don't know who we are talking with.

NCL is no longer accepting them via fax. You have to fill them out on-line or print it off and travel with it. If you do not fill it out on-line then give your self extra time a check-in because it will delay the process.
