Preferred balcony v. Extended balcony

Just booked a preferred balcony on the Pride. I asked for extended balcony and the guy said I got a category upgrade and that this was a better cabin. It is a great location on deck 7. Is the location the only thing that makes it preferred?

Is it 7299 or 7301? Those look like much larger cabins and larger balconies then an extended balcony. I had 7258 a few years ago which is an 8k but with the bowling alley balcony. The cabin itself wasn’t larger but the balcony was huge.

I believe you are referring to a premium balcony cabin. The cabin is larger than a regular or extended balcony cabin. They have upgraded trim..tile, mirrors, wood flooring entry, marble counters etc..like the suites. The balcony is larger..deep like an extended balcony cabin..but also wider. We love the premium balcony cabins on the Spirit Class ships.

Always wondering ... when there are only two people, why does the size of the balcony matter?

Seems going for the better cabin/location would be the best choice.....

I used to think this until I saw the balcony we have on our upcoming Glory trip in a video someone posted. It's 75 square feet versus 40 and is large enough to hold two loungers, two chairs and a table (the fellow in the video said they asked for an extra lounger so I presume there will be one already out there). The cabin is also substantially bigger than a normal balcony cabin. I fear that DW will fall in love with the premium balcony and insist on that category on future sailings but I suppose there are worse fates (and she does want to try a cove balcony at some point).

We had cabin # 7240 in 2015. It’s listed and priced as a premium balcony, but accept for the bathroom with the tub it’s nearly a suite. We loved it! We couldn’t get it for our cruise in 2016, so we booked the one below it on deck 6 - 6277. Same fabulous room.

Yes. Other ships have premium balconies, but not this room configuration. We had them on the Splendor and the Sunshine and they were aft wraps - smaller room but with a bigger balcony.

What category cabin is that?

Kat do you know if the 8K cabins with the slightly bigger balconies have the same layout? (7246 to 7256)

Those are standard balcony cabins with a deeper extended balcony. 7299, 7301, 6277, 6279, 8235 & 8237 are the cabins like the ones we had.

Nice room! But the room and balcony is definetly smaller than a grand suite with extended balcony. Especially the balcony

But the price was so much less :). If my balcony has a lounge chair, I’m just fine! The balcony was bigger than the extended balconies and the room was definitely bigger.

We sailed on the Sensation which I thought was a sister ship to Pride but I may be wrong. Our extended balcony had 2 lounge chairs, 3 chairs and a table. When the lounge chairs were perpendicular to the balcony, there was room in front of and behind the lounger. It doesn't look that way in the picture.

on this class of ship the balconies are all different sizes- the above photo is the only one on the ship that holds 4 people. there are two other balconies like that that hold 2 people 7258 and 8232

then you have the extended balcony and regular balconies.

Just booked a preferred balcony on the Pride. I asked for extended balcony and the guy said I got a category upgrade and that this was a better cabin. It is a great location on deck 7. Is the location the only thing that makes it preferred?

Not sure what you mean by preferred.

there are premium balconies 2 of them on deck 7

The Sensation is not sister to the Pride. The Pride is a Spirit Class ship like the Legend, the Miracle and the Spirit. Not sure what Class the Sensation is. All the ships have quirky cabins and each/class has different ones. You may have had one that people refer to as a bowling alley balcony. I know they are very long. We’ve never had one of those, but we have had some of the other quirky ones.
