Restaurants on Board? Todd English? Others?

Should we rush to book a reservation at any of the specialty restaurants on board? Are they different from the dining area (Brittania class dining). How bout the restaurant where they cook in front of you? Is that great? (forgot the name) Would you do that one over Todd English? Or should we do both? Are these worth the extra charges or should we not miss them? What about other (Non charging) restaurants on board. Can you eat at a different restaurant from the Brittania if you wanted to? Thanks

At night The Kings Court is divided into four more formal restaurants - The Lotus (Asian), The Carvery (English), La Piazza (Italian) and The Chef's Galley. There is no charge to eat in The Lotus, The Carvery, or La Piazza. They do ask that you make reservations. The Chef's Galley is where the chef does cooking demonstrations and there is a charge which I believe includes wine with your dinner. I don't think you will have any problems reserving these restaurants on the day you wish to eat there. We did not eat in any of these restaurants at night, so I cannot advise you about them. The Lotus seemed to be the most popular and we heard good reports about it. We really enjoyed The Britannia, our tablemates and our waiters. The menu is different each night in The Britannia and we enjoyed each evening. Todd English is more popular and you may want to make a reservation there when you board the ship.

We were in the QM 2 's maiden Carribean voyage this past January. Regarding specialty restaurants, you should be able to book them most of the time based on our experience, but the best one is Todd English & each cabin is usually allowed to book once there, so make sure to book at soon as you're aboard the ship, some fellow passengers in our cruise have problems obtaining seats there & never got to dine there.
