Dancing ....nightlife on the Escape?

we go out dancing twice a month on average. Some nightclubs on ships are better than others.

What is the “disco” like on the Escape?

We like pop, top 40 amd hip hop. Love heavy rock but that never happens!

Some ships shut it down early, some have dj that wont take requests, some rock it till 3am!

What is your experience if you love the nightclub?

Not so into much time in the piano bar or bands but occasionally.

Lastly what food options at 2am?

Thanks!

This was my biggest complaint on escape. Not enough dancing music and venues. There is not a dedicated night club and at midnight we’d go to the lounge in the casino but they’d still be playing Latin music. I only enjoyed dancing at glow. The lack of dance music would keep me from booking escape again. I found myself going to bed earlier than normal this cruise.

I'd like to see a Country type Bar....don't care for Rap, Hip Hop, Latin music.....I can deal with Rock (Eagles are my favorite) and Southern Rock (Marshall Tucker Band). As far as the Glow Party, the Boss Lady and I are hosting a Party at our house for our group to make shirts for the Glow Party with glow in the dark paints, and paint pens

On our 2 Escape cruises, what you are looking for could be found late night in the Sky Bar, which is the nightclub attached to the casino. I know a poster above said that was Latin music, but this is something that can vary cruise to cruise. That is where you will most likely find what you’re looking for. There are also the deck parties in Spice H20 that will have that type of music and dancing.

There is a DJ in the Skyline bar almost every night after the "party of the night". It starts around 11-12ish and lasts until the crowd thins out. We went to the Welcome Aboard party, Norwegian night, 80's and Glow party before then. There was good music at those parties too but they start around 10 and last about 1.5-2 hours. Those are held at Spice H2O.

Part of the problem is there is no "night club or disco" venue on the Escape. I think Royal is the only one that has a dedicated club like the one you're talking about.

In terms of munchies, O'Sheehans has great bar food. It is open 23 hours. It is open and busy at 2:00 am.

Just off the Escape last week and what you are looking for can be found at the Skyline Bar. The DJ played there with a full dance floor until at least 2:30am every night. This may differ cruise to cruise but it seemed like the earlier music and dancing was at H2O and then moved to Skyline.

O'Sheehans is open around the clock for late night food.

I don't know about Royal. I do know that Getaway, Breakaway, and Epic all have a dedicated night club called Bliss. Bliss was not included on Escape though, and Skyline serves that function instead, while doubling as a casino bar during the day.

Just off the Escape today - some of our group was out till 4:30 some nights with dancing at Skyline followed by late night snacks at O'Sheehan's. Several nights we didn't get to Skyline until well after midnight (we usually closed out the dueling piano bar first) and we were still at Skyline for several hours.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey kcdancer. I just got off the XCape last week and you can check out my review linked here... https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2589221. Basically, it is a review based on the “party-track” of the Excape. (Lol!). I intended to review my cruise, including all the ports and activities I was planning, but unintentionally, it ended up being a party review instead basically. I didn’t even end up getting off the ship. Had I not been under the weather, I would have had a much better, longer and more fun time, but for a ship with no real “dance club”, a pretty good time could be had. I recommend starting with the main theme parties at Spice H2O...that’s norwegian night out, 80s and GLOW, and then moving to Skyline by 1 at the latest. (Note my review where it says... “after far too many pitbull videos and the dance floor dissociating into a conga-line, NCL had enough...”

Also, advice: Be sure to be ready to party right at 10:30 at Spice as there are performances and antics that start right on time. In fact, I found everything about the cruise was very “on time”, a clock would have been helpful in my stateroom because I was always running late getting ready.

Late night food was a disappointment. I don’t know why the other posters say there’s food all night at o’sheehans, Maybe things have changed. Basically, it’s room service pizza for a flat fee of $8 after 3 AM if you want anything good. Otherwise, get to O’Sheehans before 3 and order off the shortened menu (wings, shepherds pie, burger, nachos, fries) and you’ll be fine. Hell, just tell them you want one of everything, that’s what I’m gonna do next time! When I went to O’sheehans late one night (5 I think?) they basically shoved a plate of nasty sandwiches in front of my face...they were so grottie, I wouldn’t touch ‘em. They might have well just have said “F off” and it would have been easier for us both. Also, there is no alcohol service after 3 at the bars either, so if you have any champagne comps in your room, save them for late nights.

Also, I uploaded the Cruise in Review video NCL makes on day 7 here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YfibttYrWAPc1_SViDdRyjnZndCfAhPF/view

Basically, it’s a video of most of the parties on the ship. i recognized and hung out with many of the people featured in the video, and you will end up in the video too if you are out at enough events. Be prepared to Have fun and get lots of rest before the cruise, you’ll need all the energy you can get if you want to do the full party-track.

many of the people I met on board proncounced it “X”... many were from the south, and I understand there’s a specific dialect in the English used by Americans from the South, so maybe that’s why?

No, there is no specific dialect spoken by Americans from the south that pronounce an “sk” or “sc” as an “x”.

Did you “axe” them about why they called it “excape”, eh?

No, I did not ask anyone, But the word “aks” is another example of the dialect I was referring to:

Excape

Aks

Nucular

Libarry

In’rnational

Innernet (as opposed to internet)

Those are The dialects I hear when talking with some people from the southern US.

Guess you haven’t travelled much in the US as you’ll hear those same pronunciations in urban neighborhoods in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Seattle , SF and NY. And all over the US. It’s our third national language.
