Just returned from Cozumel and we had a tour with Victor. We kept him past the 3 hours minimum and could have spent the entire day if we had more time in port.

We had been to Cozumel many times and this was absolutely the best visit yet.

I don't remember who recommended them on this board but thanks!

We hired a driver for 3 hours to take us to the East Side ofCozumel. Leo was our driver and we had aGREAT time. Leo was easy to find at thetaxi area just outside the port. The carwas already cooled off with AC running. I had a planned itinerary of where I'd like to go and Leo hadsuggestions as well. He took us throughSan Miguel and gave us a lot of Mayan history and showed us the"sights" as well as the neighborhoods. We talked about schooling, working, andliving in the area. Leo was kind enoughto escort me to the ladies restroom at one of the grocery stores and then tookmy husband and I to a convenience store to purchase some beverages for theride. After our city tour, we headedover to the east side and went to Senor Iguana's for drinks and someshopping. Leo took us further south toexperience the beautiful scenery, have some lunch, more drinks, and just enjoythe afternoon going to Coconuts and Rastas. Our scheduled 3 hours didlast a little more than that but the cost for the extra hour was only $25 so it waswell worth it. Leo was the best. He stayed with us the entire time and let ushave time to ourselves as he waited for us at each stop. We really enjoyed the afternoon and we would totally recommend ToursPlaza and Leo to any one!

Our first trip round the island ran on to 4+ hours too! Although you can easily get round the island in a couple of hours the stops and starts, photo stops and enjoying yourself add up!

Glad you had a good time. We have had Leo in the past too.

I was wondering if the tours plaza taxi tour includes lunch, snorkeling and entrance into Punta Sur Park like the private jeep tour does?

Plaza Tours does not include anything extra like lunch and snorkeling.  You pay extra for everything.

Our last visit to Cozumel, we did the private jeep tour with http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net and really had a great time. It was $69 per person and something like $50 for kids and the tour was around 5 1/2 hours. I was wondering if the tours plaza taxi tour includes lunch, snorkeling and entrance into Punta Sur Park like the private jeep tour does?

Has anyone else done the private jeep tour and how much would it cost for 7-8 people for 5 hours roughly.

We truly enjoyed the private jeep tour, and snorkeling was amazing but if we can save money on our upcoming trip and do the same things that would be great. We booked with them because they are a family business and had lots of amazing reviews.

Thanks in advance!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your tour - others have not been so lucky with .net and there seems to be considerable confusion between Cozumel cruise Excursions .NET and the long standing .COM.

If you have already done the jeep tour I am confused as to why you can’t calculate the price for a larger group? You know the pp rate, since you posted it.

The price for ToursPlaza for different sized groups is clearly stated on their website as well as suggestions for customizing a tour. It is true all food and drinks and entrance fees are extra. Entrance to Punta Sur is about $15 pp, (less for children) but if you are customizing a tour, perhaps you would like to try somewhere different? You can estimate how much food and drink your party will need.

I think for me the main choice would be between the liability of driving in convoy round the island vs traveling together, with a designated driver.

Hope you enjoy whatever you decide, we love going round the east side away from the crowds.

Just used them based on the Trip Advisory results. They were unbelievably awesome. We sailed on the Carnival Horizon and wanted a less populated non tourist activity. We took a 5 hour private tour with Con-taro, he spoke Spanish, English and Mayan, we gave him ideals of local food places and he gave us ideas. ( Just FYI, we were originally gonna have Leo but it was changed. Leo only drives a car, we asked for a van because we wanted a lot of room.) It was the best excursion I have ever been on and one of the cheapest. We had a van with only 4 people for 5 hours, price was $400 and that was the tour, each stop admission to places like the ruins, the tips, food, souvenirs for 4 people to see the wild side of the island and experience Cozumel away from the cruise traps. I wont give the names of the places we stopped because I dont want them to ever get to be like Coconuts Bar and rest. We had the most incredible food right on the beach, it was paradise. Our driver was very aware of the time, his clock was set to ship time and he made sure we were back in time. Do your group a favor and just book them.

We had a great tour with ‘Leo’ from Tours Plaza, Cozumel, March 9. We requested a van for 4 persons for extra room. Although our confirmation stated 10:30 ship time, Leo’s confirmation showed 11:30. No one answered the Tours Plaza phone number. Fortunately, he arrived at 11:00 just in time before we gave up. Our first stop was Punta Sur Eco Park. Admission was $16 pp. Leo immediately drove us to where a boat tour was being given. It was very good. Afterwards, he took us to the lighthouse. Punta Sur was our favorite part of the tour. We took photos at El Mirador, had lunch at Chen Rio, stopped at Coconuts bar & grill for the view, drove past the east side beaches to San Miguel. Since the Museum of Cozumel was closed for renovations, we went to Los Cinco Soles for shopping. Total tour time was 5 hours. Leo made everything so easy for us and was very kind. I highly recommend Tours Plaza but suggest you agree to meet at Cozumel time, rather than ship time.

We booked Tours Plaza for a recent excursion during an extended family cruise stop in Cozumel.

One in our party was in a wheelchair and  another in a walker.  One could not spend time in the sun; so as you might imagine our tour stop options were pretty limited.

That being said Leo from Tours Cozumel made this port the most memorable highlight of our trip.

Leo started us with a city tour with beautiful narrative.  We stopped at a special and original gift shop.   We noticed a Jewish Star and not only was Leo able to share info about the Synagogue he made a stop for those of us who were able to pay a quick visit.

Then off to the other side of the island for the best ever authentic Mexican lunch in an open air restaurant.  We were happy invite to Leo sit with us.

I also need to mention that the written meet-up confirmation and directions were explicit and as promised Leo was right there waiting for us with his yellow cap.   In fact as soon as we arrived near the designated meeting point and told one of the vendors we were meeting Leo they said “Ah Leo” and within a moment he was there with a smile, confirmed my name, and we were off.

I have done many privately arranged excursions Leo and Tours plaza absolutely exceeded all of my expectations.

Husband, 18 yo daughter, and myself arranged a private car and driver for our port day in Cozumel. Sergio (Tours Plaza) was waiting as we walked off the ship.  He had our paperwork, which gave us peace of mind that we found the correct person. He was courteous, and very informative about the island.  He was fun to be around.  He drove us around to the things we wanted to see, as well as offering up additional suggestions.  We started with a tour of the town, then we saw the San Gervasio Ruins, did a tequila tasting (much fun), drove the east side of the island for scenery, stopped at Chankanaab to snorkel (spent about 2 hours there), then he took us to a restaurant in town as my husband wanted to experience a 'real' restaurant, not touristy. He also drove us by some shops away from the port to find souvenirs.  We were with him about 6-7 hours.  The van was clean and had air conditioning!  Was a great day, away from the crowded tour buses the ship excursions offered.

A 3 hour tour - highly recommended.

Eduardo is the owner and he was able to deal with the fact that our cruise shipped changed schedule the day before.  We had booked his taxi and drive for Saturday, we found out on Thursday that due to weather we were going to Cozumel on Friday.  I was able to email Eduardo and he handled the switch of days with only 16 hours advance notice.

Victor was a great driver.  We visited the Mayan ruins, drove to the back side of the island for a photo op and beers at Coconuts Bar.  We went to the Chocolate factory, Then he dropped us off at a local place that had amazing ceviche and grilled fish for lunch.  We caught a cab back to the boat.

Highly recommended.  When you book a driver you can specify exactly what you want to do.  We said we wanted to see the ruins, we wanted to take photos at cool locations, we wanted to visit the Chocolate factory, and we wanted to finish with lunch at a local seafood spot - someplace that he would take his wife for lunch.

We did everything we wanted, nothing that we didn't want, and we didn't have to wait for a bunch of slow walking cruise people to fill up the bus.  In fact we were already done with a 45 minute tour of the mayan ruins when the cruise ship tour group buses were just arriving.  We had the ruins mostly to ourselves.

$80 deposit paid up front via paypal credit card
$40 cash to the driver (remember to get cash before you get on the boat, the ATM on the boat charges at $6.50 fee !!!)
---
$120 minimum fee gives you 3 hours of driver time.
which is slightly less than the cost for 2 people to go on a similar cruise excursion, but I have total flexibility to see only what I find interesting and to leave at any time we want to do something different.

$25 for each extra hour - we didn't need any extra time, but it is good to know up front what it will cost.

We booked directly on his website.  Here is the link.  Highly recommended.

We spent a wonderful day in Cozumel being taken around by Victor with Tours Plaza. Pick up right off the ship was easy. We were 3 women traveling alone and felt very safe with Victor. He showed us a map to help us plan our time with him. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any question that we asked him. Victor escorted us to each stop and was able to tell us all about what we were seeing. He was so personable and we felt like we made a new friend by the end of the day. I highly recommend using Tours Plaza for your day tour of Cozumel and ask for Victor.

Been to Cozumel a number of times.  On our cruise stop over this November we booked a private tour with Tours Plaza.  Victor met us right outside the pier and took us on a great tour around San Miguel that included a chocolate and tequila tasting at two excellent locations.  We then asked him to take us to a locals spot for lunch and he picked a great place in San Miguel that isn't a tourist spot but has very good local food.  Victor is a very good guide who we would very much recommend and Tours Plaza is a top notch local tour company with very good customer service.  Don't hesitate to book with them and ask for Victor!

Hello. My husband and I were in Cozumel on December 26th. We hired a driver, Leo, through Tours Plaza. We could not have been more happy! He was waiting there at the port with my name on a sign which I got a kick out of because I've never hired a driver before LOL. He took us wherever we wanted to go and made suggestions on the order of things. If I'm out there again I will use Tourd Plaza and ask for Leo. 🙂

We took a Private Van Tour with Tours Plaza in Cozumel. They responded quickly to my initial request and provided very good information in terms of where to meet etc.   The van was very clean and air conditioned.

Our driver was Gerry. He was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He took us all around Cozumel with lots of opportunities to take pictures.  We also went to the San Gervasio Maya ruins.  Gerry got us an excellent guide at the site, Fanny, and we really enjoyed the experience.

We enjoyed our tour and the time we spent with Gerry - thank you very much.
