Cunard's Waitlist

I wonder if any of your correspondents have had experience of Cunard's waitlist arrangement for potential cancellations on the QM2. It ssems to work like this. You pay a fully refundable deposit, which may or may not be the full ticket price to go on the list. When the reservations are being finalised, you might, or more likely might not get a last minute berth. How the system is operated and prioritised appears to be a closely guarded secret known only to Cunard. You will not be able to find out what is going on. The staff have been warned not to be specific. At least this is the system that they are running in the UK. Given the legendary nature of Americans travellers not to accept off handed service, and any slight differences in US consumer legilation, I'm interested to discover whether the same system is being operated in the States. Reading the Cunard board, it is clear there are some Cunard correspondents who are contributors.. Perhaps they could let us in on the great secret.

From what I gather, most of the unsold cabins are bought up by Vantage Travel and offered for sale by them.

In our case,we paid a 150GBP deposit upon registration and then three months before the possible departure date, we were asked for the full ticket price , but we still did not get a berth. Cunard say that all our monies will be refunded as promised but we are still waiting.
