Le Harve and Hornfleur

We are visiting Le Harve on our May cruise and wondered how others have visited Hornfleur? The ship’s excursions are expensive for such a short journey and we would rather do our own thing. There are 4 adults and 2 children...

Is there a bus, or are taxis easy to organise? Assuming there’s no hop on hop off...

Grateful for any suggestions...

We took a taxi from Le Havre and got the bus back. I think it was around 60 Euro there and around 6 Euro each on the bus back. Taxi's were available from the port in Le Havre. Honfleur is a lovely place to visit and not too big to do it justice in a day.

We love using local buses whoever we visit but the service isn't very good to Honfleur and you still have to get to the main bus station. We booked a taxi tour before we went and it was great. The driver took us a tour round the area above Honfleur which was beautiful, gave us a tour of the town then dropped us off to have lunch by the harbour. he then picked us up a couple of hours later. Great day!

Sounds great...what company did you use?

When we visited they ran a shuttle to Honfleur at no cost as Le Havre port is in the wilds and only a port area.

That's a bit unfair. It's no more than 20 minutes level walk from the cruise terminal to the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville for someone without mobility issues, so no further than from Honfleur's port area to the pretty bits.

Is there a little bit of confusion here? The shuttle normally goes to Le Havre town which is just about 15 minutes or so, a shuttle to Honfleur would probably take an hour or more.

Having said that, from a personal point of view I wouldn't bother with Le Havre again, it's a fairly grey place.

We just used https://www.taxi-lehavre.com. Because we booked before hand we were able to agree to what we wanted to see. We'd been to Honfleur before but our friends hadn't so we wanted them to see amazing views over the town and coast-line and visit the pretty little church at the top of the hill (better than it sounds!). The driver drove down and gave us an orientation round the town. We had booked the taxi for long enough for us to have a leisurely lunch and a great wander round this perfect little town.
