Jeff, I haven't made it all the way through this thread, but I was on the same cruise (plus the week before) and we really enjoyed it. But this person , in a thread from the Celebrity board, seems to have been in a different world, although on the same cruise:

Thanks for the link EM. We never witnessed anything like they did on the cruise. This person posted twice on this review, once to say that they had the same room steward as us and they liked him, and once to tell me that they finally got a refund on the art that they purchased during the cruise.

We'll be on the Pride for the first time in Sept. We played LCR in April on another ship, but I just called a few people who gave me their cabin numbers when there was nothing going on. I like the way you passed the try around!! Did you decide where & when to play before sailing?

Thanks for all the great info you shared! Loved the review & the pictures. Thanks again!

Yes, we did know before we sailed. We had a huge roll call and this was discussed way ahead of time. We had 7 sea days and we met each sea day. We maxed out with about 35 players and a pot that was around $100. The crewmembers working at the Lido Restaurant would gather to watch us play! :D

It must be really exciting to transit the canal this way. I wonder how much they were charged?…..

These are our last looks at the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal. I hope you enjoyed making the partial transit with us!!

Patti snaps this one of me on the balcony…..

To be continued…..

We are planning for a Panama Canal Cruise and would like some advise on which ( a port side balcony or starboard side balcony ) would be the best for watching the lock transit. Also thought about an Aft balcony. Suggestions?

If you are doing a partial transit then either side would be fine since you will get both views anyway. For a full transit I would book an aft balcony. Either way plan to spend some time on the open decks. It will be HOT. It takes almost 2 hours to get thru the locks.

Hi Jeff!  I'm a long time aficionado of your cruise reviews so I'm excited to see this review because I'm going on my first journey cruise in Jan 2021 on Pride for partial Panama Canal.

I also remember another review where you said Pride is one of your favorite ships.  I've only been on the Magic and Breeze so interested in comparing that to Pride since it's a smaller ship.  Which leads me to a question.... Do you know if the retractable roof is still there or if it has been removed?  I didn't realize that some Carnival ships have a pool with a retractable roof so dounds great for a January cruise.

My cruise is a little different than this cruise because it leaves and departs from Baltimore and has some different ports.  But, I know I'll still learn alot about what to expect thanks to your posts of the daily Fun Times.  And I'll actually get to see some different menus that aren't available on a 7 day voyage!

I can't wait to learn more about the panama canal piece because I know you'll be very detailed and Patti's pictures will be a fantastic preview of what we'll experience in person.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your experiences with me and everyone else on Cruise Critic.  You are a fantastic cruise ambassador!!

Take Care abnd hope to see you on a future cruise once this chaos is over.

Thanks for reading and for your kind words. It warms my heart to see these older reviews pop up and much of the information is still relevant. You are correct that the Pride is my favorite ship. I prefer the Spirit Class ships over any others  in the Carnival fleet. The mid ship pool still has the sliding glass dome. Enjoy your cruise to the Panama canal on the Pride. 😎

Hope all is well. I have gone back and re-read a lot of people's reviews to help pass the time. Sure beats reading the current crop of posts here on CC. We have had all 4 of this years planned cruises cancelled as well, so our next one isn't until next April. Hang in there everyone! 😎

Sitting here reading your review on a cold, rainy evening.  Your reviews are always wonderful!  Thank you so much for the details you put in, and for Patti's pictures!!!

Thanks for your kind words. It's a labor of love. Can't wait to do the next one,  whenever that may be. 😎

Hey Jeff!

Just off the Pride, wonderful cruise review as usual :-)

we've been to the Panama canal twice, once in 2015 full transit from Los Angeles to Ft. Lauderdale (old locks)  on the Island Princess for our 45 anniversary and a partical transit in 2019 (early 50th anniversary) round trip Galveston on the  Freedom (new locks) both times breath taking!!!  Reliving that was especially awesome for me.

i see when you guys pulled into Limon it was raining, ironically it rained on us also, however, it rained so hard they wouldn't let us off the ship!  Thank heavens for your review I got to see what we missed!

now on to the Magic!!!

hugs

nicki
