Day #11 - Belize ( 8am to 5pm ) - 10/17/17.

We were up at 7am to a partly cloudy day. The seas were once again very calm. Here are today’s Fun Times……

Patti decided that she was going to skip breakfast today, and began putting together a couple of bags of laundry to send out. I went to get a breakfast burrito, and then made my way to the Red Frog Rum Bar for a Thirsty Frog Red.

Just before 10am we made our way to the Northern Lights Dining Room, where priority members were to meet to be escorted down to the tenders. We were there about 10 seconds before us and another couple were taken to the mid ship tender boarding area. We are now on the tender……

We do not have an excursion booked today. Last week when we were here, Patti didn’t have an opportunity to shop and look around. I am just along for the ride, so my plan is to find a nice bar and have a few local beers while she wandered around. But first things first, we wanted to get a few pictures of ourselves with the Belize sign……

I thought about stopping at this bar, but it looked a little too calm for me…..

Once I saw the Wet Lizard I knew that this was the place to be…..

IMG_6518-X2.jpg

When Patti saw this sign she knew I would be in good hands! Lol…..

IMG_6519-X2.jpg

It didn’t take long at all before another CC friend introduced himself and joined me. He was also from New Jersey so we had plenty to talk about. It was a pleasure to meet you!

Once Patti had her fill of shopping, she came to the Wet Lizard to get me. Here I am saying goodbye……..

Once we were on the tender, it took them about 15 minutes to load the boat completely before we left Belize. Here are a few views as we sailed away…..

Back at the cabin we found today’s towel creature…..

We decided to have some Guy’s Burgers for lunch and took them over to the Red Frog Rum Bar to have a few drinks.

Afterwards, we went to the Cloud 9 Spa for a few hours, before getting ready for our dinner at the Prime Steakhouse this evening.

Our reservation at the Prime Steakhouse was for 6:30pm. As we were being seated, we heard a commotion behind us. Four of our CC friends also had reservations at the same time, and were seated at a nearby table.

Shortly after being seated, we glanced out the window to see that the Carnival Magic was sailing by this cute little island, and I do mean LITTLE! I want one of these! Lol…..

Here is Patti’s salad. She loved this as a change from the usual Caesar’s salad that she normally gets……

I get the boring same old Caesar’s salad! Lol……

As Patti started eating her meal, she noticed that some of the meat of her lobster tail was dark. Our server, seeing that Patti was unhappy with her lobster insisted that she bring her another one. The one she brought out had some of the same dark meat. Again Patti wasn’t happy, so our server went to inform the Chef. The Chef came to our table and explained that they just started using warm water lobster for their surf and turf, and that some dark meat is normal.

Patti said that’s fine but she wasn’t going to eat it. The Chef said that he would make her anything else that she wanted, but Patti said that she was fine, and had plenty of everything else to eat. In the end, they took $20 off our bill which we felt was more than generous, and wasn’t expecting. Kudos to the Prime Steakhouse!!

We are not lobster experts by any means, so here is a picture of the offending lobster tail. Would you have eaten it?

No I would not eat that lobster. I am a HUGE lobster fan and there is no comparison in taste between cold water and warm water lobster. I am NOT a fan of warm water lobster. I hope they post this on the menus!

Susan

Wow...that lobster looks terrible. I've eaten warm water lobster before and I'm sure it did not have that dark looking meat in it.

Carnival needs to rethink their suppliers on the lobster.

I wouldn't have eaten it either! When Patti had just the lobster tail at the Steakhouse the previous week, it was perfect!

We left room for dessert. Here is the dessert menu…..

We had decided when we were here last week that we would be trying the “Art at theTable” dessert tonight. Here we are with the Chef who will be doing it for us…..

Afterwards, we made our way to the casino for a few hours. I broke even playing blackjack, but Patti won $180 playing the slots. Way to go Patti!! We took a quick walk around the ship and then back to the cabin for the night.

Coming up next: Our day at Mahogany Bay, or rain, rain, go away!!

Now that is a very interesting dessert.....Art at the Table......could you please share with us what was inside that big ball in the middle, I originally thought it was sherbet swirl ice cream, but once I saw it cracked open I was totally lost especially as to what was inside it.

Do they still have where you can order a steak or lobster from the Steak House in the dining room for the upcharge?

I just am not much of a fan of dragging out the dining in the steakhouse to two hours, but we have ordered the options in the dining room and they were just as tasty.

Jeff -Awesome, awesome review as-always!

That’s a pretty ridiculous cutback in the Steakhouse, regarding the warmwater lobster tail. I’d be disappointed as well!

Thanks for following along once again! From now on if the lobster is warm water we will be avoiding it!

I so look forward to your reviews! I love all the pictures of the food, ship and destinations. Thank you both for doing this. It is very much appreciated!

P.S. I've never had lobster that was dark at the bottom. I wouldn't trust that at all!

Glad to have you aboard again! Thanks for reading!

It was a mixture of ice cream, cake, and "other" stuff. It was very good. The ball itself is white chocolate. :)

Yes, that option is available on all ships. :)

I have been enjoying your review and the pics (of course, I always enjoy your reviews!). Especially so because I know you are getting closer to the Elation segment!

We cruise on Elation December 11th. Months ago I noticed you had started an Elation roll call and I was so excited because I knew you would be writing one of your epic reviews!![emoji2][emoji2][emoji2]
