Casino cash...is it real cash or chips?

I just called casino host and switched my rate code to the Premier offer. Host said we would recieve $900 in casino play. I feel like I have used a casino promo before and I am pretty sure they gave me cash but it was a lower amount. Anyone else have experience with recieving casino cash?

When they say casino cash, it is cash. Just go to the cashier cage and give you name and S&S card. they will give you $100 bills.

I have done only one other cruise where they said casino play or casino chips. Those were special chips that had to be played to win regular chips.

Has always been cash on the Premier cruises and you can get it the first night of the cruise. Also free drinks for me and my spouse the whole cruise. We have done many Premier cruises on Carnival and Holland America.

Thanks everyone. It definitely says cash so hopefully that's what I get!

I really like the Premier cruises. First night welcome party with good hors d'oeuvres. Extra gifts from the casino. Cash drawings in the casino. Many more extras.

They are slowly changing it over to free play chips or free slot play from cash. Right now it depends on if the ships slot machines have been upgraded to work with the free play or not. I know from experience the Vista is now free play and not cash and have heard that the Conquest has recently switched as well.

Do you know this to be true for Premier cruises and not just any casino promos? I am on the Horizon in June so this is not great news if true. I don't see how they could give me slot play when I strictly play blackjack or craps. Even free play chips force you to play a certain denomination. They must know what games I play from past cruises.

I've always received cash but I have seen a few people on another site saying they weren't getting cash and that Carnival was placing it on their S&S to be played in the casino.

Just as a regular on board credit? Is there a way to distinguish that a credit must be put into play in the casino? Granted this all probably doesn't matter as I'm sure I will spend it there plus some :')

I'm not sure how they are doing it now. Some still get cash. Others saying it's put on their S&S to be played in casino. We booked a premier on the Magic in June. Will see I guess.

The Executive hosts told us on the Vista Ultra that moving to Fun Play Chips and Slot Free Play will be the new normal as the ships upgrade their slot machines.

For table players, you get the Fun play chips in $5 or $25 denominations. You can not break these denominations down at the table so be sure to ask for $5 chips unless you plan to play $25 or more per bet. In my case they gave me 2 full trays of $5 Fun Play Chips since many offer was for $1,000 casino cash.

For slot players, the free play is loaded onto your SS card as free play and you transfer it onto the slot machines in the denomination of your choice.

Went on premier cruise on the Conquest end of November. The brochure said $500 in cash. Got on the boat and they gave slot credit or casino chips. Many people were very annoyed and mad because of the false advertisement. Its one thing to say you will get casino play and another if they say casino cash and then change when you get on board. Check it out before you go but I think most of them changing to the casino credit. Have another one booked in February so will see if any different.

Curious now too...I've always gotten cash. Going on a Premier on Pride in February. Guess I'll find out then.

Just like the old Atlantic City days...one week, you got cash and now it's slot play only....I do like "cash in hand" better:D

Breeze December Premier was casino chips. Get the LOWEST denomination, or have it loaded to your slot play. Some got half and half. Apparently, the staff is told to say the slot play must be won or lost on the machine, however...it turned out that it loaded exactly the same as a charge to your room would have been and you would play at your convenience and be able to cash out in typical fashion. MEANING...the best way to have this 'cash' was to load onto your player bank for slot play, even if you play table games. Live, learn, and inform cruise critic members. ;);)

Well, I have to agree- false advertising. Booked my upcoming cruise (in 7 days) over 6 months ago when they told me Cash. Just like other Premier cruises in the past. Now, they change the rules. Will find out in 8 days, and will definitely fill out the survey after this cruise with some bad remarks about the casino.

HawkIVette, what was the outcome ? What ship ?

Was on the Glory Feb 13-20. Was $500 cash, which is what I was offered a few times before.

Got home shortly after and booked another cruise on the Glory for April 14-21. This came with the same offer (PC4) as before in February. This time, however, the cash is only $200. Seems they are backing off on the offers or, as others have stated here, they are changing over to credit instead of cash.

On the Breeze Feb. 4 on a Premier deal, and they gave us our money as credit on our S&S card. Our first Premier cruise was in September on the Freedom and we were given our money in cash. We just figured the Breeze is so big and had so many Premier passengers it was easier for them to do the credit. If you really want cash just go to a slot machine and put your card in, spin once and then cash out. Go get cash from casino cashier.
