Visa for India

Hi Gilly. Thanks again for all your advise. Did you get your photo done in a normal photo booth. The one in our shopping centre has a sign on it saying INDIAN VISA APPROVED but I know the size of the photos seem to be an issue with many people? Thanks again if you have time to reply. Lorraine.

Many photo booths offer the option to print your photos to the correct size (50mm x 50mm), and we have successfully secured visas for India twice in the past using photo-booth photos and applying direct to VFS.

However, before having your photos taken, make sure you read the "Photo Specifications" given on the relevant tab on this web page: http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/Tourist.html

As long as all documents are in order then we found the VFS turn-round time was swift and they kept us appraised of progress by SMS. But I can understand the re-assurance of using a visa agent who, no doubt, will check everything for you before submission.

Thanks again everyone. We have managed to get our photos done in a photo booth that had a sign outside saying INDIAN VISA APPROVED and got the correct size. A good tip is - if you can’t find a photo booth that will do this, take normal passport photos and send them to VISA GENIE, who for about £35 will crop them to the correct size and deal with the whole Visa application for you. A very good service.

Sorry Fruitgum, missed your earlier post but thanks for picking it up Flossie! We got a batch of passport photos taken at Jessops (the Polaroid sort) because we needed a couple of visas for our upcoming travels. The Indian ones are always annoying because they have to be a different size, but as you say, the system seems to be able to cope with it ;-) What's most annoying is that each one of these visas takes a whole page of passport up! (I know, first world problem ;))

It definitely sounds like Visa Central is the way to go. One week is an amazing turn around.

Strongly recommend Visa Central. India Visa is a pistol just a notch below Brazil. Interesting that each state in India has different entry and exit passes. Found this while there and on our overland trip to Agra and Taj Mahal.

Hi Everyone.

Is there any Bristish person, due to go to India on a cruise ship who has already got their Indian Visa. We are due to go there on the RSS Voyager in April/May and are struggling with this. We know we cannot use an EVisa but we want to make sure we are getting the correct one, as we want a year one to go back in November. Any help would be marvellous.

Lorraine.

Have you tried the UK board? Although there may not be Regent cruisers, the process for an Indian visa would be the same.
