Hi..looking for some advice on whether to do the 12 day or 18 day w/Celebrity. The 12 day is mid Dec. and the 18 day is late Jan. 2013 and it also includes stops in Aust. Just wondering if the stops they have on the 18 day are worth seeing or taking the 12 day and staying longer pre or post cruise? Thanks:)

18 nights - ex Auckland 30/01/12 New Zealand - Sydney to Perth.

18 nights - ex Sydney 17/02/12 around top of Australia (incl Bali) to Perth.

36 nights - ex Auckland 30/01/12 circumnavigation New Zealand & Australia.

12 nights - ex Sydney to Auckland 30/11/11 , 24/12/11 & 18/01/12.

12 nights - ex Auckland to Sydney 12/12/11 & 06/01/12.

18 nights - ex Honolulu to Sydney 11/11/11

18 nights - ex Sydney to Honolulu 06/03/12

All cruises are on CELEBRITY CENTURY.

You will see more of Australia ONLY with the 18 night Itinerary departing Sydney on 17/02/12 viz: Sydney - Queensland, Top End Darwin, Bali (Indonesia), Broome then down to Perth .

To do New Zealand ONLY go for any of the three Itineraries departing Sydney on 30/11/11, 24/12/11 or 18/01/12.

To see both Australia and New Zealand very well then go for the 36 day circum-navigation departing from Auckland on 30/01/12.

Hope this helps .

We're doing the solstice December 23, 2012. Sydney to Auckland.

We struggled with the same decision, but at the end of the day decided we'd rather just spend a few days beforehand in the Sydney area.

I am not sure the 18 day you are looking at, but I believe it may be the same cruise with a land -tour beforehand - a cruisetour? I've heard the cruisetours are great and take you to Ayers Rock, Great Barrier Reef etc, but that they are really expensive and very tiring as you fly a lot (2-3 hr flights) to spend an overnight in a place. Given how jet-lagged we'll be having come from Canada I don't think we're up for that.

Here are the iteneraries for the 12 night, and the cruisetour (although I couldn't find an 18 night, just a 16 night:

I would choose the 12 day cruise, with land content, at each end. With Sydney and Auckland, as your base, you would have an endless choice of enjoyable day trips.

Unfortunately, most of the cruisetours attached to current cruises, are in our summer. Heat and flies, in the Centre, humidity and cyclones/lows with heavy rain, in the North, are distinct possibilities.

May is the start of our dry season in the North.

the Jan 28 one looks awesome.. Surprised that they're not doing Melbourne, but it looks great. The overnight in Sydney is great. If I could go that time of year I'd definately look into it. That said, if I was able to be there for 18 days I'd be tempted to try to get over to the Great Barrier Reef instead...

Just wondering if the stops they have on the 18 day are worth seeing or taking the 12 day and staying longer pre or post cruise? Thanks:)

Having taken two cruises that included lots of ports in New Zealand and Australia most recently just a couple of months ago on another cruise line I think that both look great.

One of the things I would do is price out the flights for each itinerary to see what that cost would be and also what the flights would be like.

Personally, if you budget allows for this I would go with the longer cruise, but again they are both quite nice.

Whichever one you take arrive a few days early so you can get over the jet lag and enjoy the embarkation city. Looking at the two January cruises one has Sydney and the other one has Auckland and you can easily spend a couple of day or more touring these cities.

How do I price out air that far out? It is probably just as much as the cruise! (Paying solo price) Would I price it for this year to get an idea? I would love to do the longer one. Thanks for the info.:)

Are you looking at the cruise for January of 2012.

If so you can go to a search engine and look for round trip flights for each itinerary.

Air is generally available 335 days from your flight dates although IIRC your return date may affect the availability of pricing.
