Cruise Port for Constellation in Venice

Check out the Hotel Olimpia just off the Piazza Roma. There is just one bridge from the piazza to the hotel so you don't need to deal with a long walk or a water taxi and when you are ready to head to the ship the People Mover is a five minute walk across the piazza. There is a major vaporetto stop a few minutes away so it is easy to get around to everything else in Venice. The hotel is great, the staff is great and the location really worked for us.

There are different ways... water bus, walk, or water taxi (which can be expensive).

A water taxi takes you to the ship/pier. But it is by far the most expensive way.

Otherwise you just have to get to Piazzale Roma which is close to the train station.

From there a people mover takes you to the terminal for 1.50 Euro

We would be staying in the Cannaregio area. Since we are going on cruise we would probably have 2 large suitcases and 2 carryons.

How strong/agile are the 2 of you? Hauling 2 suitcases each (plus a purse and day bag?) over bridges (steps, not ramps) and cobbled streets may be beyond your comfort zone. Likewise, the vaporettos are difficult with multiple pieces of luggage each, unless you are willing to stand in the open section of the deck. That leaves the expensive private water taxi, which will take you from the dock nearest your hotel to the dock closest to the cruise terminal.

Also, should your chosen hotel have canal access, a water taxi can take you directly to the hotel. You may find that others on your roll call are staying at the same hotel. If so, several couples can agree to share a water taxi to the pier for the cruise terminal. This is a great way to have convenience without paying a small fortune;)

I can highly recommend also the Alilaguna blu service.

From Marco Polo airport (turn left when exiting the airport, walk about 200m) to San Zaccaria stop (we had a hotel, Fontana, 5 min walk from San Marco, 3 min walk from this stop). This stop doesn't have any bridges or steps.

From San Zaccaria again we used the Alilaguna blu line to go to the cruise terminal (Crociere). This line of boats is geared towards passengers with luggage.

Our 5th visit to Venice, but 1st time actually overnighting in the city and not in Mestre. It was a very enjoyable experience to see Venice early in the morning or late afternoon without the crowds...
