We have hired a recommended taxi/tour driver while at Cozumel.

I had assumed heading South, towards Punta Sur, and then back up and over.

Is it better to snorkel at Sky Reef earlier in the day?

We are thinking that we want to hit Sky Reef, down towards Punta sure, and Chen Rio.

I am wondering how this is usually done? Which direction first???

And, we def. want the best recommendations for lunch. Fish and Shrimp tacos???

We will be getting a late-morning start, so that might mean lunch at Sky Reef if we hit there first.

Which pier are you docking at? If Puerta Maya or International Pier, definitely the south route to Punta Sur then up to transversal road and over to downtown. If docking at Punta Langosta downtown, reverse that. You stopping at Sky Reef to snorkel? Can't opine on food there.

IMO, for lunch best to stop at Bob Marley's/ Rasta's/ Paradise Café (whatever it's called these days), as you make the turn at Punta Sur. Great food. I think I heard Playa Bonita closed. That's further up. Skip Coconuts unless you want the view. Chen Rio used to have a great whole snapper, wonderfully prepared.

Stop at the Tequila Factory on Transversal Road on the way back.

My first thought would be as you suggest but I can see it may be more complicated than that.

How late do you actually arrive and leave? Which pier are you at? What time of year? How long do you intend to stay at Chen Rio - do you just want to see it, or stop to eat/drink? I think timing could be a big factor in the route I would take.
