Questions about the main dining restaurant

We have been on 2 Viking River cruises and the dining time for passengers was 7 pm- open seating. We have been on many ocean cruises with various cruise lines but this will be our first with Viking.

Is that the set time the same for the ocean cruises? We understand that it’s open seating but is there a range in time or does everyone go at 7 like the river cruises?

Thank you!

On our cruise on the Sky last October, the hours were 6-9 pm for dinner, open seating, no reservations.

Like a restaurant, continuous seating during these hours. Like a restaurant, you will be seated in the order in which you arrive.

Unlike a restaurant, you may ask for a table just large enough for your party or you may ask to share a table (and sometimes they will be able to oblige and sometimes they won't).

If you are traveling with a large party (8 or more) and planning to eat in the restaurant every night, you may be happier making a standing reservation, so that they will hold one of the larger tables for you.
