Hi

Can anyone give me any assistance? Presently researching a cruise out of the port of New York. Will be flying into Newark. What is the best mode of transportation from airport to hotel and from hotel to cruise port? What hotel is the best to stay at ? Any other hints or advice regarding a cruise out of this port is welcomed ! Thanks in advance.

Newark Airport to Manhattan: if you can handle all your own luggage, AirTrain from the terminal to NJ Transit train to New York Penn Station. OR NJ Transit express bus from the terminal to Manhattan, where there are stops at Grand Central Terminal, Bryant Park (42nd at Fifth Ave.), and the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

If you can't handle all your luggage, a car or shared van service may be the best choice. http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-taxi-car-van-service.html#carandvan

There are so many hotels that it is really a matter of taste and budget.

Hotel to port: taxi.

  • 3 months later...

A few years back, we flew to La Guardia, took a cab and stayed a couple of days two blocks from Times Square, to see some of the sights. We arranged for transport to the New York cruise port.

Coming back we took a cab from the cruise port back to the airport.

All I can say is THERE IS NO SHORTCUT TO AND FROM THE SHIP!

Transport to and from may shock you in price, But, the total experience for us was worth it for us!
