Wondering if anyone has recently used Ramses Tours for an overnight tour while in Egypt? Will be using them in a few months and was wondering if someone could give a review of how their recent tour was with them. I have read many posts from people who are booked with them for upcoming excursions, but not from anyone who has actually used them recently. Did you visit everything as planned? Any info will be most appreciated.

Good Morning, My daughter and I used Ramsey's Tours in jan/feb this year and were very please. We took a 1/2 day trip of Alexandria, and comparing to the day trip we took the day before with ship, it was great. More personalize information, and they actually looked out for you, and even changed some part of the tour to suit the group. We were very satisfied, and if I returned to Eqypt, I would use them for the longer trip next time...

Hi,

My family of 5 just returned from a RCI cruise that stopped at Alexandria.

We had booked our tour with Ramses months prior to departure. George, the tour operator was always very quick to answer my many questions and always made me feel that we would be taken very well care of. I even called him prior to leaving to make sure everything was well organized for us. Our ship was in Alexandria from 7am to 10pm. Everything we organized was carried out very nicely. We always felt safe and we were very satisfied with our guide and driver. We met our guide at the scheduled time of 7:30am. He was waiting for us with our name on a board right outside the gangway. He made us feel safe from the first handshake! We immediately were escorted to his comfortable van with air condition. We were 5 plus the driver and our guide. Our guide was a young man, who was very knowledgeable in all of Egypts's history. He talked the whole 3 hours on our way to the pyramids, giving us so much info in a very easy to understand format. Our 3 teenagers were really interested in all he had to say! He always answered our questions and pointed things out along the way. The 3 hours just flew by. Our driver was also very good. His driving skills were amazing and we always felt very safe. He would also point things out to us. Both guide and driver spoke perfect english and very easy to understand. Once we got to Giza, Our guide brought us to the pyramids and would always be next to us ready to give more info, answer questions or be our photographer! We had organized a camel ride for the 5 of us and he also took care of that for us. At the pyramids we were not haggled at all by any of the people selling stuff or asking for a tip. Our guide was always close by to us and the locals would say a few words to him and then they would leave. We walked to the Sphinx were more info was given to us. We spent about 2 hours at Giza. At this time he offered to take us for lunch. We had brought some food from our ship, so we passed on the offer. So he suggested we leave for the museum. He called the driver, who promptly pulled up to take us there. At the museum, the guide took care of getting us entrance tickets. Inside he showed us all the amazing statues and gave us more stories about each artifact. It was so interesting and so much to see. He manuevered us throughout the musem and brough us to the Mummy Room. This too we had asked that we include in our excursion. This room was amazing. The kids were just amazed. He then brought us to see King Tuts treaseres. We were so inspired by the richness and all the stories behind each artifact. It was important to do this tour with a guide since he provided so much info and always answered our questions. Once we completed the tour of the museum, Our guide asked us if we wanted to visit the Papyrus store. We agreed for a quick stop of 1/2 hour. There we learnt how papyrus was made and we bought a small one as a souvenir. No pressure was felt at all on making a purchase. We left and then stopped at local shop and bought some canned soda. We were done our excursuin and we started heading back to Alexandria. It was about 3:45. We stopped to gas up the van and we purchased some more drinks and a couple of local treats (packaged) that our tour guide recommended. We talked alittle while during our drive back, but then we all fell asleep, absorbing everything we had seen and learnt.I had mentioned prior to booking that I wanted to be back at the ship for 7:00. It was 6:30, so our tour guide offered to take us to the Alexandria library and we also stopped at a Mosque were my husband and 3 boys entered the mosque. It was an interesting stop were the boys learnt more about our different cultures. Our driver would drop us off with the guide and be ready to pick us up when our guide called him.

We had an amazing time and we were so happy that we had booked with Ramses. They delivered everything we asked for and more. We always felt safe and extremey stisfied with all the information we were given. I highly recommend this tour company. Their price was very reasonable. We paid much less the ship tour but got so much more!

If you need any other info, do not hesitate to contact me. The 5 of us were extremely happy of our day in Egypt! Thanks to Ramese , it was very memorable!!!!

Our guide and driver dropped us right off at the port. We parted and said our goodbyes. As per our guides recommendations, the boys praciced there negatioating skill with the vendors at the port. They had an amazing time with the merchants and felt they made great deals! Our guide had given us some tips on how to negotiate with the locals! The boys shopped till it was boarding time!!! 9:15!!! They enjoyed this part of the excursion immensely too!

Can anybody tell me what the vehicles are like driven by Ramses Tours. There will be 8 of us. I believe it is approx. 100 miles each way from Port Said to the Pyramids so I am hoping the transport will be comfortable.

Contact them and ask them what vehicles they have available. It will probably depend on the number of people on the tour. A car for 2 people, a mini van for 4 people, etc. They will usually respond in a day or two to your questions.

Hi Montrealmaria,

Thanks for your review on Ramses Tour! We are party of 2 who will be joining Ramses tour on Sept. 1. Unfortunately, we can't find any fellow cruisers to join us for this private excursion. We are a bit concern on the safety issue because it will be only 2 of us taking the excursion in an unknown territory.

Can I contact you for more detail of this private excursion with Ramses?

Btw, we are from Toronto, Ontario.

My email address is bless0628@gmail.com

Hi,

I also booked a one day tour with Ramses for two people. We did a custom tour. My cruise is in Nov. Please let me know how it went when you get back. jsmith3049@yahoo.com

Thanks

Some American and Canadian servers put Ramses email in the Spam or bulk boxes... if you don't hear from them within 24 hours, check you Spam box!! They are usually very quick in responding!!

Using a gmail or yahoo address usually helps!!

I was able to send and receive my first email to Ramses using a Yahoo account....after that it would not recognize them at all; not even in the Spam area..unable to send or receive......had to use a Comcast account and once I started communicating with the Comcast account, they responded within 24 -36 hours.

We're aboard Brilliance in Dec. and have booked 3 vans with Ramses thus far. After researching and emailing, we decided to book w/Ramses. George has been amazingly attentive and very flexible. Our little group of 3 families has now grown to 29 people, and George just keeps saying "yes". We're filling our 3rd van now, and, at Ramses' suggestion, we are only putting 10 in each van so all can ride comfortably. My husband and sons are all over 6'2", so we appreciate the space. Can't wait to tour with Ramses!

My husband and I are in the process of setting up 2 day tours - one full day in Cairo (October 21) and a half day in Alexandria (October 22) with Ramses. We are arriving on the Grand Princess. We would prefer to be part of a group and wondering if you or someone else on our ship would like to be part of our group?

I believe this is the link for your cruise's Roll Call - as per Maryann ns' post, this is the best place to ask for tour sharing! This is a very active Roll Call - already 60 pages of post - check it out, and good luck!!

I have just got off the "phone" with Ramses and booked a tour! They now have a live chat feature and can be reached at all times. It is now after midnight in Egypt and to my surprise, they answered my request for a tour! The person was Josef, extremely professional and friendly. Fantastic!!

We just returned from our Mediterranean Celebrity cruise aboard the Equinox. We truly enjoyed our 2-day overnight tour with Ramses. Our guide Islam and driver Mohammed were both excellent. The ability of our guide to convey the history, the monuments, and the interpersonal relation allowed us to appreciate and expand our knowledge of Egypt. Islam was exceptional and made every effort to ensure we saw as much as possible in the two days. The air conditioned vehicle was superb. The hotel was very nice and lunch at the Hard Rock was fun although we would have also enjoyed a traditional meal at an Egypt restaurant (understand it being Ramadan this option would have been limited). I found Ramses to be very trusting with regard to the post tour payment which in today’s world is something not typically seen. At the end of our trip we gratuitously thanked both our guide and driver. We highly recommend Ramses to anyone wishing to explore and learn about Egypt!

We also went on two tours with Ramses while on the Oceania Insignia in August 2009- half day out of Alexandria with a group of five people and a full day to Cairo with the same five. Both tours were excellent and all five of us were very happy. The guide in Alexandria was excellent - 28yrs.old, very good english and super informative. His name was Mohammed Yousef. He even treated us to some delicious mango juice. The guide in Cairo was also excellent - his name was Kareem. WOW, so much information. We had emailed Ramses about a restaurant we saw on the food network and that's where they took us. Very close to the museum - so we wasted no time. Lunch for six people cost approximately $11.00. Drivers for both days were also excellent. Tour was perfect - we would highly recommend them.

Hi teeniewahine,

Would you happen to remember the name of that restaurant???

Yes, Marie-Claude I do remember name of restaurant - it was a fast food Egyptian restaurant which was profiled on Anthony Bourdain's TV show. The restaurant was "Abou Tarak". The guide Kareem again suggested Hard Rock or the Hilton Restaurant but we insisted on trying Abou Tarak -- everyone on tour loved it - it was an experience and it was quick- and like I mentioned - we bought lunch for both the guide and drive and I think it came to about $11.00.

Thanks teeniewahine!!

We also have a tour booked with Ramses and it includes lunch - but I would much rather have a quick lunch where all the action is rather than spend 1.5 hour at the Hilton...

This sounds like a perfect place to grab a bite and be in the action - I just hope it's not something weird as Anthony Bourdain can get pretty adventurous sometimes!!

Thanks!

MC
