Britannia excursions in Norway

Hi all. This will be our first trip to Norway and would like the low down on what to do at ports of call. We are going 22 Apr18. Visiting Stavanger, Olden, Andalsnes & Bergen. What excursions are best ?;);):D:D

22 April is very early for a Fjords trip.

Chances are there will still be lots of snow which could affect trips outside of main centres of population.

Stavanger and Bergen are both places you can wander around. Oil Museum in Stavanger well worth a visit.

Olden is a small place with trips to the glacier. Webcam is showing plenty of snow there at the moment.

Adnalses is little more than a single street, but is close to Troll Road and Wall or Alesund. Again weather may affect which trips operate.

Is it possible to visit the Briksdal Glacier independently? Doing the fjords in july on Britannia and usually do our own thing rather than excursions where possible. Thanks

The Briksdal glacier is stunning, as is the journey there from Olden. One of my favourite parts of Norway and not to be missed.

If you have not visited Stavanger and Bergen before, both are nice towns to wander around and very close to the port. Stavanger, in particular, you will dock right next to the old town.

We were very lucky with the weather when we visited Olden, lovely place, small village surrounded by spectatular scenery. We just took a walk through the village up to a lovely red church, soaking in the atmosphere. My folks took the small tram/train/thingy around ... we all had a wonderful day and we're glad we didn't book an excursion.

Yes on 27th April Britannia is due to dock at the Bontelabo quay which is about 10 minutes walk along the harbour to the centre of town and the funicular.

I think there are various places where cruise ships dock. On both of our trips we have been docked no more than a ten minute walk from Bryggen, which is the old part of Bergen and right in the centre.

There are several berths and the ones in the industrial ports require shuttle transfers as you are not allowed to walk in the area which can mean lengthy queues. The berth closer in is an easy walk. You can check which one you are in via the port schedule.
