Have extra OBC~don't use it on HauteJewels!

We were on Silhouette in April and found ourselves with some extra OBC. I saw a pretty bracelet, half off too! Haute Jewels.

After wearing in just a few times I was at a casino and looked down at my wrist to see it was gone. My dh said why not take a chance and see if someone turned it in. I went to ask where the Lost and Found was and the person there said "is this what you're looking for?" Surprise. Then I remembered that the bracelet came with a "Lifetime Warranty Certificate."

So I mailed it off, with the receipt.

It just came back today marked "wrong address."

Then I emailed them.

I think you can guess what's next.....

The email was returned!

I know with any purchase on a cruise ship it's buyer beware. However, when it happens to you it still makes you angry! Especially, when they make a big thing about their Lifetime Warrantee Certificate.

So CELEBRITY .... just so you know, you have a very dishonest vendor on Silhouette!

Don't purchase from HauteJewels:(

I see on their Facebook page a picture of them happily smiling in front of Sorrento's.

That's Royal Caribbean, I think. I should warn them too.

Just think what good publicity they would have gotten if they honored their warranty and repaired the bracelet, like promised.

If you sent the item to the wrong address, how is that the vendor's fault? I agree that you should talk to Celebrity before disparaging the vendor publicly. At this point, it sounds like you've had zero interaction with anyone.

Contact Celeb...they will give you a good address ...or hopefully handle i for you.

I bought an expensive handbag at a vendor approved store on St Kitts..The strap frayed in 2 months...once I reached the right Celeb dept via e mail..I mailed them the bag..it was fully replaced along with an extra cruise charm...

If no luck go through your credit card co if it was charged through the shipboard acct...

How stupid do you think I am? I sent the item to the address listed on their warranty. The item came back with Wrong Address on the envelope. I've had zero interaction because I have received an incorrect email and an incorrect address.

Thank you, that's just what I'll do. And I didn't even think of the credit card company.:D

Edit: I used OBC, so the CC company is out.

I'm glad that you found it. You were fortunate. It's frustrating and annoying, but don't give up. I'm wondering if the warranty paperwork given to you was old and not current so that's why it had the wrong information.

Celebrity should help to get you the correct information so you can return it and get it fixed. If not, please let us know.

Good luck!

Was this a store on board or a line of items sold inside a shop on board? Shops on board should have a contact no. or e mail...

If you used OBC, it would be going through your onboard acct...so Celeb should be able to assist. Celebrity Official no longer seems to post here but maybe you can try other social media outlets..

Had never heard of this line of jewelry so I googled it...seems not much info..independent vendors ?.

One excerpt of what I found:

"Welcome to Haute Jewelry Concepts!

We are a wholesale company and a manufacturer. To purchase from us, you must own a business and meet our $50 per order minimum.

We do not collect payment information or calculate shipping on this website. When you place your order, be sure to leave your daytime phone number and a good email address where we can reach you.

Enjoy shopping with us!"

They were an independent vendor on Silhouette. However, I did some googling myself and it seems that they do have a store on one (some?) of the Royal Caribbean ships.

I called Celebrity today, but I was on hold for what seemed like forever, so I'm going to try perhaps a less busy time.

You were ON the ship when you lost it? I would have taken it back to the shop on the ship...and gotten a replacement!

No. I was not on the ship. I lost it two weeks ago (my cruise was in April).

Celebrity does not deal with their onboard vendors. They gave me the email of Starboard Cruise that handles their "fine jewelry" purchases/complaints, etc.

I have emailed them.

If I don't get a response from them, I'll just have it repaired at a local jewelers, rather than aggravating myself any more.

In the future, if I have left over OBC, I'll drink it or eat it.:D

Wow....wouldn't expect that response from Celebrity-especially since you used OBC! Buyer beware for sure! I will never purchase anything of significance on board again!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to touch base and let you know what happened here. Looking for a happy Celebrity ending? Well, NO.

Two emails to Starboard Jewels that have not been answered.

One phone call. Also not returned.

Like I said, be careful, consumer. If you have left-over OBC eat it or drink it!

So, yes, EwAbG, I guess I have besmerched HauteJewels "good name". You were very concerned about that.

Won't stop me from sailing Celebrity. Will stop me from purchasing anything but a bottle of rum or a T-shirt from them. And BOO to STARBOARD too!

Wow...

We will be guided accordingly re onboard purchases. Does Starboard manage all the shops including brands like M Kors.?

They do have nice items at the Spa..that's where I shop quite a bit...no problems there but no jewels either...

hcat,

I just wanted to alert others (although I'm irritated enough that I may just post something on Royal's board and Trip Advisor).

I still have the bracelet, fortunately, and I'll have it repaired at a local jewelers.

I didn't pay a lot for it. I would have just brushed it off probably if it wasn't for that "LIFETIME WARRANTY" card they gave me.

This is not a unique problem for just Celebrity...but applies to nearly all the Mass market cruise lines. The cruise lines simply contract the shop space to a third party who operates, stocks and staffs the shops. If you have any problem the cruise line will simply say, "we are not responsible for the shops). They are also not responsible for the shore excursions (another third party vendor), photographers, beauty shop, spa, etc. Cruise lines contract out many passenger services and get their cut. It is one reason why we would never buy anything of value on a ship.
