Just received a free offer from Ballys Atlantic City for a free cruise on Ncl. Won't know any detAils as far as ship, destination or length of cruise until I pick up certificate in April. Anyone have experience with this and can shed some light on what to possibly expect. We are platinum with Norwegian but never had any free cruise offers. TIA for any info....hoping a NY departure is offered....

It depends on your level at Ballys. Ive gotten free cruises from Taj (oh I miss the Taj) for Carnival and they were 2x for balcony and 1x for a suite-but I was Signature level at Taj Mahal.

We have gotten 3 of these in the past year and a half from our casino. We are minimal gamblers. They were for inside cabins but the highest level of the insides. Not really free but a great low price. You get any perks that NCL is offering at the time. We are on th dawn in 2 months. Inside cabin deck 11, 2ppl, adult beverage package and insurance for $900 total.

This is how my boyfriend and I started cruising with NCL in 2013. He gets these offers from TR regularly (he is Diamond). We now cruise NCL directly through Casinos at Sea, but our first few cruises were booked with the TR vouchers.

Typical destinations included are the Bahamas, Caribbean, Bermuda, Alaska, Mexico, and sometimes Europe. You will probably be able to do either the Breakaway or Gem from NYC. The vouchers used to give you a year to sail, but I think that recent ones have been requiring you to sail within 6 months.

You will most likely be offered an inside cabin. You can pay to upgrade if you want. You are responsible for taxes and some fees. If you take the inside, you are able to select from whatever promos NCL is offering with insides; if you upgrade, you will be able to select promos accordingly. You will receive a card for you and a travel companion that entitles you to drinks at the casino bar. Depending on how much you gamble on cruises, you would then have the option to check rates directly through Casinos at Sea for future bookings. My boyfriend is offered insides on the TR vouchers. I am Platinum, but have never received one. Casinos at Sea combines our play and has been giving us balcony comps as of late.

Call me a skeptic, but it will probably be an interior cabin 2 decks below the water line with no perks.

All pax cabins are above waterline on modern ships.

If you are not a Diamond Aspiration player, the certificates are usually for an inside room for 2. You still pay non-commisionable administrative charges and port taxes. The "free" inside room is o.k. and you will get one of the Free at Sea perks of your choice (go to https://www.ncl.com/cruise-deals/choice).

You can, for an additional charge, upgrade to a balcony room.

The ACY certificates are usually good for 6 months. And are good for Caribbean cruises. There are a couple of itineraries that leave from Manhattan Cruise Terminal (we're on a Bermuda cruise from NY in a few weeks).

It is a good way to get yourself rated by the NCL Casinos at Sea (NCL's version of Total Rewards). Once you are rated, you can get free cruises anywhere NCL sails directly from NCL.

I received one for being a VIP at a land casino and then won a second one during a drawing at the same casino. They were both the same - choice of over 15 cruises from a lot of different ports, and ships, valid through early 2018. Inside cabin of course. But we got a good sideways inside cabin.

Hubby and I decided to do a back to back Alaska cruise, Vancouver to Seward and back, so 14 days. Our certificate didn't cover a Seattle port. We both wanted to go Alaska for our retirement celebrations, and this made it quite a bit cheaper. I did not find out how much an upgrade would be because I'm fine with an inside cabin.

We had to pay $20 a day for an administrative fee, port fees and taxes. We were able to pay just $50 deposit on each cruise, per person. So with it all, for both of us it's around $1500 total, with insurance We also received one of the free at sea offers as well. We were allowed to choose from all of those offered.

We'll get a casino card in our room and free drinks in the casino with the card. (better than paying for the UBP, especially since we don't drink much.)

I certainly think it's worth looking into. The CAS reps were VERY helpful. Before we decided, I called and talked to one of the reps about the options, how much it would really cost. Then I did a lot of research before we decided to do the back to back to Alaska, instead of picking a Caribbean or Bermuda getaway.

Enjoy!

Thanks for everyone's input! Will wait to see what is offered...

One other thing to add is that if you and spouse both get a certificate, you can combine them to get an cabin upgrade. My wife and I both play at Harrah's and get them all the time (can't use them all). We often get an inside and a oceanview offer and combine them into a Balcony

This is actually how we began cruising on NCL. Received a free interior offer from Resorts AC. Called the number on the certificate, and found they were very flexible in what cruise we could use the certificate on. Let us book one not listed in the offer. We "upgraded" from an inside cabin to a balcony (balcony snobs here!) for $600 - still a bargain. We added a 3rd person. By the time the taxes and administrative fees were paid, we still had a great price of around $1200 on one of their newest ships (Breakaway)- and out of NY, so no airfare! We now switch back and forth from CCL to NCL - all on casino rates/promos.

never got one from a casino, but have from a car dealership. We were able to upgrade for very little. Yes, we had to pay port charges and taxes, but heck, that is certainly better than paying the full amount. I am usually the skeptic, but this sounds legit to me. It may be just a 4 day cruise though.

Hi all😳, just gotta get some clarification on how much is everyone dropping or contributing to get these free offers from various casinos? We gamble locally a lot in NY, and sometimes AC, but haven't gotten any offers? I did get a Total Rewards credit card, so I booked thru CAS for the first time! But would love thenunfo😍Thx

I have several cruise offers from various Harrah's properties. However, for me it is a minimum of a 4 hour drive or a flight to the closest casinos. I live in Alabama. I am Aspirations level 2. Would that get me an ocean view cabin? What level were you to get an ocean view cabin? I know that 7* usually get balconies. On top of it, my DW is Aspirations level 1 if that helps. I don't want to drive or fly that long for an inside cabin.

We used to get these all the time. One year we took seven of them. But sadly Caesar's pulled out of Ohio and the nearest one is one we don't like at all. I'd love to start getting them again. We'd upgrade to a balcony cabin. Took several B2B's using these.

We have a free cruise coming on RCI because of our MyChoice (Pinnacle) program, but haven't been able to schedule it due to other commitments. Even earned $500 in airfare reimbursement but still no go.

Cabin offer is tied primarily to your level of play. Some Diamonds can barely get a balcony while some much lower can. All comps and offers are tied to average play, not level. Some people get to high levels with lots of small visits and/or bonus levels.

I would think you would be offered a balcony though.

If you have already sailed often with NCL and are a casino player, you might be eligible for a cruise direct with CAS. It all depends on how much you play each time you cruise.

Hint - If you daily gambling budget is under $100 - chances are very slim they are dumb enough to offer you a free cruise. (I just picked a number as I do not know where the EXACT number is)

If your offer doesn't show the cabin type, you should be able to call a host or someone who can tell you before you make that drive. I'm SevenStars and I get offers of Balconies from Las Vegas. However, for a time, New Orleans gave me offers of Insides....and it's a costly flight for me to get there! If you got a mailer, read the fine print and it might say what type of cabin. If it's an email offer, you may need to call.

When you call to book your cruise they will tell you cost to upgrade to other cabin types if you wish.
