Current Open Hotels in San Juan

Recommended Posts

Reservation made via Booking.com just cancelled for December 2nd (one night) at the San Juan Airport Hotel. I was offered an alternate option at the Borinquen Beach Inn, 5451 Isla Verde Avenue, 00979 San Juan, Puerto Rico for $223 per night. This was a back-up hotel reservation. I was notified via e-mail and received a phone call too.

*Sigh* We have the San Juan Airport Hotel booked as a back-up for Nov. 23-25 and have not recieved any notification of cancellation. However, I did notice thT the charge was no longer on my crdit card, so I was leery. This will make the 3rd hotel that has cancelled. We do have a booking at Fortazella Guest House, a hostel, in Old San Juan. Anyone know if it is open?? I have called with no answer.

Shirley,

The person that called me from Booking.com said my reservation was being cancelled as the hotel was overbooked. Happy sails.

We had reservations at the Embassy Suites hotel and casino... couldn't get them to confirm our reservation for January. After reading about other people having reservations cancelled out into April, I cancelled and rebooked us through Florida. We'll stay there overnight and get a direct flight to SJU in the morning. Cost was about $100 each for the extra leg of the trip. Got a better hotel room in Tampa for nearly the same price as the one in San Juan. I prefer to make it to the port city the day before, but this time it seemed prudent to change plans sooner rather than later... or too late.

I did book directly through the hotel, so maybe if it is overbooking we might be ok if we need it. I’m not too optimisitc about the hostel. I do feel kind of guilty having two bookings, as I might be taking a room away from someone else. But then again, we might get there and not even have anything.

Just got an email that my reservation for San Juan airport for 12/1 is cancelled because of "damage from hurricane Irma" but yet I believe they are being used for FEMA? [emoji848] oh well appears better safe with airbnb reservation at this point I hope

I contacted AC Marriott yesterday to confirm my mid-January reservation. Spoke to the desk and they verified my reservation and sent me a confirmation via e-mail. Originally made and confirmed the reservation in July. They said they were working on reservations to contact guests to confirm unless the guest contacted them first.

I just called the Isla Verde Marriott Courtyard to confirm my Dec. 2 reservation and they said that they won't be able to accommodate guests with reservations until mid to late December 2018. I had a backup reservation at Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino and just called them to confirm and they said they plan to honor my reservation. Crossing my fingers. I don't want to book an Air B&B unless I'm really going to need it.

We had a reservation for the AC Hotel on 10/27/17. I confirmed it with them twice by phone, twice by e-mail and once via Facebook messenger. Three days before our arrival we received another confirmation email. The next day (two days before arrival) we received a cancellation email. I'd book a back-up somewhere else to be on the safe side.

we also have reservations at the

Marriott Stellaris Resort for 11/23 - 11/26 and we have called them weekly to confirm our reservations and they have told us yes our reservations are good but they cancelled our friends reservations that were for the same days. I have been following on facebook as well and asked if anyone has stayed or heard from the Marriott and someone posted this yesterday.

I spent theday there on a Day Pass after my cruise vacation ended on October 21st. Theywere open and fully operational. Cafe, restaurant, gift shop, pool, slide, beach etc. Everything was open. All rooms were fully booked with Reliefworkers, but resort is open and operational.

Just checked into the Best Western Condado Palms. We were relieved that they were honoring our reservation after reading about so many last minute cancellations by other hotels.

It isn’t over until the fat lady sings. Hope they do honor your reservation but many people have been told that by hotels and have later been canceled.

I think you missed that they just checked in - as in they are at the hotel now...

I don't trust any of my hotel reservations for Dec. 2, 2017. I went ahead and booked a beachfront airbnb with host, Yises (who has a few other available apt's). We are getting a studio apt., all in for $120 (including cleaning and booking fees). I emailed Yises and inquired about doing a luggage drop at the property prior to official 3 PM check in time (so my husband and I can get to enjoying a beach day on Isla Verde Beach) and he was super accommodating. He'll allow us to drop our luggage at our unit at 11 AM (the time of checkout for the party vacating our unit). He even confirmed that there is water and power. Now I'm relieved to not have to worry about hotels canceling on me with minimal notice. Isla Verde Marriott Courtyard confirmed they won't honor my reservation over the phone, but they haven't emailed me or alerted me in any way, except that I called them direct.

I just received an email cancellation for the Caribe Hilton for the end of January 2018. The reservation is still showing up as active in my account. I called Hilton's main number, and they do not show any cancellation either. They recommended holding on to the reservation for now. All of the Hilton hotels in San Juan are now showing as unavailable for our time period, except the Doubletree, which had previously only been bookable for 2 days. I currently have both of these hotels booked on points.

Will keep following, but the next move will be to fly into FL the night before, and get an early morning flight to PR. Day of flights from where I live get in too late for our cruise.

I received an email this morning that my March 23rd 2018 reservation at the Caribe Hilton was cancelled. At least they gave me plenty of time to make other plans

This is the first post for a cancellation of reservations for the month of March.

Glad we were proactive and cancelled our resevation last week, at the Sheraton Old San Juan for March 25, 26 ,2018.

We booked ,then, at small boutique hotel El Convento for two nights. It was expensive and had to pay in full for two night. It is our contribution to the economy of PR. The hotel sounds wonderful and some cruisers have stayed there in Oct and gave a nice report here on CC. I would look for local owned hotels for your dates in March , not the international chains.

Hopefully we will be staying at El Convento the cruise before yours. I’ll post how it goes. I haven’t stayed there, but I did tour the hotel a few years back with my sister (a TA at the time) and it was really lovely. We had tapas and sangria in the bar after the tour - so good.

I got an email for our reservations for 3/30/17 to 4/1/17 were cancelled as well. I use my Hilton Honor's points and so far the reservation is still showing on their site and I've not got my points back. I'm going to wait the weekend to see if this is updated and then make new reservations after Thanksgiving.
