Questions about Restaurants

Hello,

We be doing our first crossing on the QM2 this September, first time on Cunard. So I know the Britannia Restaurant and the buffet are included in our cruise price but what are the other places to eat that require a fee?

The Verandah, Red Lion Pub for dinner and the specialty restaurants during the evening in King’s Court.

Which offers FREE lunch!

A little more info (unfortunately NOT including current pricing - sorry)

Besides the Britannia Dining Room

- and the King's Court buffet and room service (all cost-included)

There is the "gourmet" Veranda Restaurant - reservations available in advance. This is the expensive option (I believe it's about $75 pp. Lunch is cheaper)

There is a rotating series of themes for "alternate dining" in a special section of King's Court. The themes include Asian, Italian, BBQ & American standards, and Indian. You'll have to contact the King's Court maitre d' by phone or in person when aboard to learn the schedule and make the reservation. I recall the cost is roughly $19.

New this season is dinner in the Golden Lion Pub. I believe there are links to the menu in other threads in the forum (and the pricing may be changing or different between ships in the fleet) but I recall that the price was also more "reasonable" than that at the Veranda.

Are the themed alternate dining options served as a buffet or is it full service, even though it's in King's Court?

The OP refers to "places to eat.

There are more than have been mentioned above, which are for 'sit-down' meals.

Other places where yo can "eat" (excluding the special arrangements for Grills passengers):

1. In your cabin. Room service is 24 hours and there is no charge (though a small tip might be considered)

2. The Britannia dining room does not only serve dinner. Breakfast and lunch are served at least every sea day.

3. Sir Samuel's wine bar (deck 3 midships) has light snacks, chocolates and deserts, along with the coffe and tea (charges may apply).

4. The Queen's Room (ballroom, deck 3 aft) serves afternoon tea each sea day.

5. The Carinthia Lounge (deck 7 forward) has a food counter, serving breakfast, lunch, snacks and patisserie food at various times of the day. You may also eat food here brought from the King's Court buffet (both are open 24 hours a day).

6. Commodore Club (deck 9 forward) serves hors d'oeuvres before dinner.

7. The Chef's Galley, within the King's Court buffet area serves health-concious breakfast food and, ironically, burgers and sandwiches at lunchtime. It also hosts, at least once per cruise, chef's demostration themes (reserve ahead; charges apply).

8. The Boardwalk Café (deck 12 aft) usually opens on sea days, weather permitting. Salads, burgers etc. The kitchen and servery is inside but the seating (for 66 people) is the only intentional open-air dining on board (the Verandah has a small outdoor area but is fee-based and you may take food from the King's Court out on deck - or to your cabin). It is typically open at lunch time but may open earlier or later on occasion, too. There is usually a bar-trolley offering beverages twhen it is open, too.

9. Last, and likely least, the bars will provide 'nibbles' if you ask, along with your purchased beverage.

Anyone think of anywhere else to 'eat' on board?

Thank you all so much for all your helpful info. I always like to learn as much as I can about the ship I will be on when trying a different cruise line.
