Vancouver Embarkation question for Princess passengers who purchased airport transfer

We are getting conflicting information from Princess and passengers regarding details on the current embarkation process.

Question for anyone who has used the Princess transfer from YVR to the pier THIS SEASON: Upon arrival at the pier, what happened to your luggage after it was removed from the bus? Did you have to take it through "Security" with you at that time, as Princess told us last night? (The embarkation information in the Cruise Personalizer has still not been posted.)

If Princess does not handle the luggage for passengers who use their airport transfer service from YVR to Canada Place, we will gladly handle our own transfer. Just need to know the facts clear.png?emoji-grin-1677

Thank you to anyone who can share their recent personal experience in this situation!

Have no idea. We usually just get our luggage and take the Sky Train down to the pier area then walk to the Cruise area and drop off our bags. Costs way less than Princesstransfers or any other means. Takes about 30 minutes with no traffic tie ups.

Even if Princess are wrong and your bags are taken from the bus for you, it's still more time and more money to use their transfers. For the price difference between an entire cab for up to 4 people (CAD$35, fixed price) and the per person rate of Princess transfers (USD$29 last time I saw one, or approx CAD$38.50), you can easily throw money at porters and never have to touch your checked bags bag at YVR ($10 for first 3 bags, $2 per bag extra, tipping optional) or the port (where it's totally free for all luggage handling - official signs even say not to tip). Or you can schlep your own bags from the luggage carousel to the Princess transfer desk through the big glass doors that lead to the arrivals hall so you do more work as well as pay more money...

Luggage dropoff at the pier is on the north end of the bus bay, before you head into security. So if you had to take it from the bus to the dropoff it might be 200' at most. Usually with transfers they check it in for you since all the luggage on the bus is going on the ship - however I haven't personally done this in Vancouver. We prefer to fly into Seattle and drive up. Avis is only about 4 blocks south of Canada Place up Burrard under one of the Hyatt hotels (actually 7 floors underground).

Not for this year but years prior: We never touched our luggage once we handed it over to the Princess rep at YVR. We simply picked it up off the carousel and walked to the waiting rep outside baggage claim. We didn't see it again until it arrived in our cabin.

A word of warning - depending on when your flight arrives, you may have a long wait before the bus leaves to go to the ship. One time, we waited about an hour and 45 mins.

I don’t have info from This season, but last year. Hubby was in a wheelchair and I could not manage him plus luggage. We used Princess transfer from the airport, and did not see our luggage again until it arrived in our cabin shortly after boarding.

I would not hesitate to use Princess transfer, despite the premium price. Everything was handled very smoothly and we got to relax and start our vacation!
